Internet Access in All Hotel Guestrooms in the Americas |
MINNEAPOLIS (Nov. 14, 2005) Radisson Hotels & Resorts®
today announced that on Jan. 1, 2006, it will begin offering complimentary
high-speed Internet access in the guestrooms at its properties in the Americas.
Radisson is among the first upscale hotel brands to provide the service
as a complimentary in-room amenity to all guests. There is no program to
join to obtain connectivity, and, depending upon the technological infrastructure
of individual properties, Internet access is offered either hard-wired
or wireless.
Radisson SAS Hotels & Resorts in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and Radisson Edwardian Hotels in the United Kingdom also offer complimentary high-speed Internet access in guestrooms. "High-speed Internet access is no longer a novelty in hotel guestrooms," said Bjørn Gullaksen, executive vice president and brand leader, Radisson Hotels & Resorts. "It is among the most important amenities our guests have come to expect. While our hotels have provided high-speed connectivity for several years, we believe supplying it free of charge in guestrooms will add to our guests' overall experience, and give them more control over their stay." Gullaksen added that the Internet service complements another Radisson amenity the ability for guests to print securely from their Internet-enabled device. "With our printing service, guests enter a security code to retrieve documents at the hotel's printing station, or choose the convenience of having documents delivered to their room. Bundling complimentary guestroom connectivity with our printing service creates a virtual office environment in which guests can opt to be as productive when they travel as they are in their offices or homes." Currently, Radisson properties in the Americas also provide high-speed connectivity in its lobbies, restaurants and meeting rooms. It is at the discretion of the hotels to charge for Internet access in locations other than guestrooms. The rates for high-speed connectivity in public spaces will vary by property and local market conditions. Gullaksen said rates typically range from $7 to $15 for a 24-hour period in public areas for individual usage and does not include meeting space usage. Many of Radisson's franchised hotels in the U.S. opt to offer the service complimentary throughout their hotels. |
