Lodging Operators Who Navigated Disasters Including Hurricane Katrina Will
Share their Experiences at New IH/M&RS Session - �Management in Crisis�, 
November 12, 2005

WHITE PLAINS, NY, November 4, 2005�. Lodging operators who successfully navigated disasters including Hurricane Katrina, September 11 and SARS will share their experiences and insights at a newly developed session �Management in Crisis� on Saturday, November 12, in New York City as part of the 2005 Hospitality Leadership Forum. To date, more than 500 hospitality industry professionals have registered to attend the full-day, pre-show conference produced by the International Hotel/Motel & Restaurant Show® (IH/M&RS). 

Effective crisis management strategies, including creation, rehearsal and refinement of an airtight crisis management plan, as well as coordination and communication with various constituencies (guests, employees, media and law enforcement) will be addressed by lodging operators who faced both natural and inflicted disasters. 

Panelists include: 

  • William Langkopp, CAE, CHA, Executive Vice president, Louisiana Hotel & Lodging Association; 
  • Paul O�Neil, Executive Vice President, Kerzner International, Bahamas Limited; and 
  • Ann Peterson, General Manager, Crowne Plaza, Times Square and Regional Vice President of Northeast Operations, Hotel Management Group, InterContinental Hotels Group. 
The session will be moderated by Roger Conner, Vice President, North American Communications, Marriott International, Inc. 

�Management in Crisis� will be presented on Saturday, November 12, from 2:30pm to 3:30pm; and repeated again from 3:45pm to 4:45pm. It is one of 12 sessions to be presented at the 2nd annual IH/M&RS Hospitality Leadership Forum, which runs from 9:00am to 5:00pm. Tickets for the full-day program cost $119. Following a full-day of conference and networking activities on Saturday, November 12, the IH/M&RS will feature three days of exhibits from Sunday, November 13, though Tuesday, November 15. The market presents some 1,400 hospitality industry suppliers and attracts approximately 35,000 in total trade attendance.
