| December 15, 2005 - The Hong Kong Polytechnic University�s School of
Hotel & Tourism Management will hold the International Convention &
Expo Summit on 7-9 February 2006. The aim of the Summit is to provide educators,
academicians, industry practitioners and representatives of professional
industry associations in the conventions, meetings, expositions, and special
events field with an interdisciplinary forum for exchange of information.
The event is jointly hosted and organized by the School of Hotel &
Tourism Management, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the William
F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration, University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
We have assembled a very attractive program, featuring an exciting mix
of leading industry professionals and academics, including Mr. Wolfram
N. Diener of Venetian Macau Limited; Mr. Hong-Seok Jin of Korea Convention
Event Industry Association, Korea; Ms. Jane Vong Holmes of International
Congress & Convention Association; Mr. Anthony Wong of Asian Overland
Services Tours & Travel, Malaysia; Ms. Connie Cheng of Shanghai Municipal
Tourism Administrative Commission, Prof. Amy Chan, former Executive Director
of the Hong Kong Tourist Association; and Mr. Cliff Wallace of Hong Kong
Convention & Exhibition Centre, Hong Kong. Key presentations will assess
changes in the competitive environment, examine the impact of mega-events
on convention activity, and discuss important education initiatives and
challenges. Our program also features workshops on industry and academic
research, presentations by academics from more than 15 countries around
the world, a site visit, and ample opportunities for networking.
It is our aim to make such a valuable event available to a wide range
of industry professionals and academics, and provide a forum for establishing
greater collaboration between industry professionals and educators. Therefore,
