SAN FRANCISCO (December 8, 2005) - Randall King, general manager of
the Hilton San Francisco Financial District, has announced the appointment
of Graham MacDonald Smith to the position of director of sales and marketing
at the new Hilton San Francisco Financial District Hotel. A highly
respected industry veteran and manager who has compiled an impressive track
record for his work throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, Smith will serve
as a principal contact for the hotel's business clientele and oversee the
hotel's state-of-the-art meeting and communications facilities. The
hotel is scheduled to open in January 2006.
Ideally situated at one of San Francisco's prime business addresses, the Hilton San Francisco Financial District has undergone an all-encompassing, $34-million renovation. The hotel's landmark structure, renowned for its iconic roles in innumerable photos and films, will remain unchanged. "Graham MacDonald Smith is the first of many top-quality professionals who will constitute the finest team of business hoteliers in the city," said King. "His appointment is further testimony to our commitment to the highest level of service for our guests. We are very pleased to have him on board." "The Hilton San Francisco Financial District has been carefully planned to offer every convenience a discriminating traveler could desire. From our meeting facilities to our spa, every aspect of the hotel has been meticulously designed to ensure a productive yet relaxing visit." Graham MacDonald Smith brings more than 16 years of experience to his
new position. Smith began his hospitality career working in hotels
and restaurants throughout his native Australia, Great Britain and Europe.
In 1992, he joined the Doubletree Berkeley Marina in Berkeley, California,
and for the next three years served as director of group sales, corporate
sales manager, and executive meeting manager. In 1995 he was appointed
director of sales and marketing. An early advocate of technology
as a tool for sales and marketing, Smith was appointed director of sales
and marketing at the San Francisco Hilton Fisherman's Wharf in 2003, where
he developed numerous innovative marketing initiatives, developed partnerships
with local sports teams, and, among other achievements, was instrumental
in raising the hotel's STAR performance to number one in the competitive
set.
