Hotel Park, Opens in Sterling, Virginia
Comprised of a Candlewood Suites and a Suburban Extended
Stay Hotel Both Managed by The Generation Companies
|STERLING, VIRGINIA - July 25, 2005 - Approximately 125 businesspeople,
dignitaries and investors attended the recent ribbon-cutting and grand
opening of the Sterling Hotel Campus, a 253-suite extended stay hotel park
located at the corner of East Severn Way and Atlantic Avenue in Sterling,
Virginia near Washington DC. A joint development sharing a tree-dotted
courtyard, the hotel campus boasts two properties, Candlewood Suites/Sterling
and Suburban Extended Stay Hotel of Sterling, and is managed by The Generation
Companies, a real estate developer, asset manager, and extended stay hotel
operator based in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina.
Speaking at the ceremony were Tracey White, President and CEO of the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce; Justin Exner, Chairman of the Herndon Dulles Chamber of Commerce; Cheryl Kilday, President and CEO of the Loudoun County Convention & Visitor’s Bureau; H. Mark Daley III, President of The Generation Companies; Ron Jacobsen, Vice President of Operations of The Generation Companies; and Chris Kornmeyer, Vice President of Marketing for Atlanta’s Suburban Franchise Systems.
The two properties employ approximately 30 people in the Sterling area, including Laila Oinas, General Manager of Candlewood Suites-Sterling; Craig Williams, General Manager of Suburban Extended Stay Hotel/Sterling; Michelle Plai, Director of Sales for both properties; and Greg Burnes, Area Manager for the Sterling Hotel Campus, responsible for not only opening the two hotels but also overseeing operations of both properties. “It’s a wonderful addition to the community and is an incredible growth opportunity for The Generation Companies,” Burnes commented. “Both the Candlewood Suites and Suburban Extended Stay hotels are excited to build lasting relationships with key decision-makers in the community”
The Suburban Extended Stay Hotel of Sterling is an economy-priced 132- room extended stay hotel offering rates ranging from $59 to $129 depending on the length of stay. Rooms are equipped with a complete kitchen, including microwave, refrigerator, stove-top, coffee-maker, cookware and utensils; telephone with voice-mail and data port; complimentary high speed internet (wireless/Ethernet); cable television; weekly housekeeping service; and on-site guest laundry and meeting room facility. Suburban Franchise Systems, Inc. (SFS) is an Atlanta-based franchisee-owned company with 67 Suburban Extended Stay Hotels operating in the United States.
The Candlewood Suites-Sterling features 121 suites and offers spacious accommodations that cater to the unique needs of long-term guests, including a complete kitchen with full-sized refrigerator and dishwasher, 27-inch TV, VHS/DVD player, large business desk, adjustable executive chair, two line speaker phone with data port and complimentary high-speed wireless and Ethernet internet access. A state of the art boardroom with 42” plasma and AV system is also available. Guests have access to free laundry facilities, free video and CD library, and the Candlewood Cupboard – a 24-hour honor-based pantry with food and sundries at grocery store prices. The hotel campus provides free shuttle service to and from the airport, and to attractions and businesses within a three-mile radius.
