Westin Grand Bohemian in Downtown Orlando |
 ORLANDO,
FL � (August 11, 2005) � Roger Ploum has been promoted to general manager
of the AAA Four-Diamond Westin Grand Bohemian, a Kessler Collection Property,
in downtown Orlando. Ploum who was recently the general manager of
the Celebration Hotel, a sister property, brings over 15 years of experience
to this new position. He succeeds former general manager Stuart Newmark
who was recently promoted to senior vice-president of operations for The
Kessler Collection.
Prior to joining The Kessler Collection, Ploum worked for several luxury brands across the USA, Europe and Africa. Most recently, he was the food & beverage director and operations manager for Disney�s flagship, the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa in Orlando. He also served as the director of food & beverage, catering & conventions services for the Chateau Sonesta Hotel in New Orleans and opened Sun International�s Palace of the Lost City in South Africa. Originally from Holland, Ploum attended the Hotelschool The Hague, international institute for hospitality management in the Netherlands and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. �This was a well-deserved promotion for Roger,� claims Stuart Newmark, senior vice-president of operations for The Kessler Collection. �He brings a wealth of knowledge and tremendous poise to this position that will assist us in taking the hotel to the next level.� Located in downtown Orlando, The Westin Grand Bohemian features 250 boutique style rooms including 36 signature suites. The Westin Grand Bohemian showcases over 200 pieces of rare artwork from renowned artists such as Gustav Klimt, Egon Schiele, Larry Young, and David Wu-Ject Key. In addition to the rare artwork, the hotel is also home to a very rare and expensive Imperial Grand Bösendorfer piano, one of only two in the world. It was designed by Hans Hollein and it took nearly nine years to build. |
