Housing Issues for Meeting Planners

.

Boston, Mass., August 8, 2005 Continuing its efforts to provide meeting planners with superior customer service, the Boston Convention Marketing Center (BCMC) announced today that Judy Sheng has been hired to the newly created position of Director of Citywide Room Blocks and Hotel Relations.  Sheng will work directly with meeting planners as liaison for their housing requirements including facilitating hotel contracts, assembling room blocks and being available for any accommodation questions that arise.

As the first city to offer meeting planners this unique service enhancement, Sheng will work closely with meeting planners, the BCMC sales team and the hotel community to assemble appropriate room blocks. Responsible for developing the complete hotel package Sheng will work with planners to evaluate logistical and price point considerations, facilitate site inspections of hotel properties - and assemble hotel room blocks designed to meet the specific needs of each meeting planner.

Creating this unique hotel liaison position is another example of Bostons capabilities and commitment to providing the meeting planner with all the necessary services for hosting a flawless event in Boston, said Janice Neavitt, director of marketing for the Boston Marriott Copley Place. Meeting planners can expect to experience a unified and coordinated effort from the hotel community and the BCMC when hosting their event in Boston.

According to Bob Pellegrini, vice president of sales for the BCMC, This position was developed based on feedback we received from meeting planners and the Boston hoteliers. By providing a single point of contact for their housing needs the Advantage BOSTON team is continuing to offer meeting planners superior customer service and unmatched capabilities.

Sheng brings extensive hotel and meeting experience to her new position. Previously she was a sales executive with the Westin Copley Place in Boston and Hyatt Hotels and Resorts in Boston and Los Angeles.

Im delighted to be able to act as liaison between meeting planners and the hotel community, said Sheng.  Well be offering a wide range of services from working with planners to mapping out site inspections and locating additional rooms when the need arises, to providing ongoing support for both the meeting planner and hotel community once the room block is booked.
