|MASON, Ohio - Aug. 18, 2005--Great Wolf Resorts, Inc. held an official
groundbreaking ceremony today, commemorating construction of the $100+
million family resort destination being built adjacent to Paramount's Kings
Island. The four-story, log-sided, northwoods themed resort is scheduled
to open in late 2006.
Once complete, the 401-suite Great Wolf Lodge will feature a gigantic, year-round, indoor waterpark standing 90-feet tall from floor to ceiling. The 84-degree waterpark will house six pools, a four-story interactive treehouse waterfort with a 1,000-gallon tipping bucket at the top, and 11 waterslides with the latest trends in water attractions including a water roller coaster ride and a cannon bowl tube ride.
The resort amenities will also include two themed family restaurants; an Aveda(R) Concept Spa; children's craft and activity room; 100-game arcade with ticket redemption center; fitness room; confectionery cafe; gift shop and a 40,000 square-foot conference facility.
Great Wolf Lodge plans to be fully integrated with Paramount's Kings Island through connecting tram service, cross-promotions and special combination resort/theme park packages. The synergy between the lodge and the theme park is expected to enhance visitor entertainment options and convenience, increasing overall visitor satisfaction and value.
"I look forward with great anticipation to the opening of Great Wolf Lodge in Mason," said City of Mason Mayor Peter Beck. "Great Wolf Lodge with all its amenities will bring further excitement and attention to the City of Mason and to Warren County as a year-round family tourism destination point. This unique, one of a kind facility will also attract the convention business and the business traveler and it will create a variety of new jobs for our area."
This will be the second Great Wolf Lodge in Ohio. The first opened in Sandusky as Ohio's first indoor waterpark resort. For more information visit greatwolflodge.com or call 1.800.913.WOLF (9653).
