May 6, 2005 � Marco Scherer has been named assistant general manager for
the stylish Hotel Monaco located at 225 N. Wabash in Chicago. He
joins the Monaco�s management team from the 143-room Royal St. Charles
Hotel in New Orleans, where he was general manager.
As the Hotel Monaco�s assistant general manager, Scherer oversees daily operations and personnel for the 192-room property. He reports directly to the hotel�s general manager, Nabil Moubayed. Known for its residential ambiance and eclectic décor, the Hotel Monaco offers guests a unique mix of sophistication, savvy and urbane style. Scherer brings to the position more than eight years of experience in the hospitality industry, having worked for Wyndham, Radisson and boutique independent hotels across the country. His ability to lead has earned him both Supervisor of the Year and Manager of the Quarter awards. Scherer is a University of Missouri-Columbia alumnus. The boutique, luxury Hotel Monaco is located just steps from the North Michigan Avenue shopping district and the Loop business district. Originally built in 1912, it features an eclectic French Deco-inspired design that envelopes visitors in high energy, high design and high style. The Hotel Monaco Chicago is one of a collection of seven Monaco hotels managed by Kimpton, a San Francisco-based company known for its collection of stylish independent lifestyle hotels that are coupled with bustling chef-driven restaurants.
