MEMPHIS, Tenn. - May 5, 2005 -- Embassy Suites Hotels, currently with
178 hotels, announces the opening of six new properties in the spring and
summer of 2005. The openings of these hotels represents the wide reach
of the Embassy Suites brand, from the leisure-focused 146-suite La Quinta,
Calif. property, complete with full-service spa, to the 300-suite Hampton,
Va. property, which will adjoin the new Hampton Roads Convention Center.
This latest round of openings supports the Embassy Suites goal of continued growth and innovation, by reaching new markets and offering developers a diversified full-service brand that understands and responds to their needs. Four out of the six new hotels are being built by Mr. John Q. Hammons. His continued interest and development of Embassy Suites Hotels is an important endorsement for the brand. "We are pleased to continue to develop Embassy Suites' hotels because of the brand's strength, quality and flexibility," said Mr. John Q. Hammons, chairman and chief executive officer of John Q. Hammons Hotels, Inc. "Both Embassy Suites and John Q. Hammons Hotels believe in focusing on the guest experience by offering a wide variety of amenities and services to exceed expectations, and we look forward to developing further properties with Embassy Suites." The new hotels opening are located in: Albuquerque, N.M. (261 suites; opened April 2005);
"These six openings represent the strong growth and bright future of Embassy Suites and our ability to offer a brand that can put a two-room suite in practically any market has been a great selling-point," said David Greydanus, senior vice president, brand management, Embassy Suites Hotels. "We continue to make the Embassy Suites brand more innovative and flexible, which is why we are able to attract a constant stream of developers who are interested in building an Embassy Suites Hotel." The hotels opening in Dallas-Frisco, Hampton, Winston-Salem and St. Louis-St. Charles are attached to or adjacent to a major convention center. This is a growing trend for the Embassy Suites brand, signaling the brand's ability to penetrate the convention center market that sees frequent business travel. The Embassy Suites Hotel - La Quinta Resort, Spa and Convention Center will be a leisure-focused hotel, joining a growing number of leisure-focused properties in the brand's portfolio. Located just minutes from the Palm Springs International Airport, the hotel encompasses a 15-acre full service resort and spa with five outdoor pools and whirlpools. The Wellness Spa contains six treatment rooms, private steam baths, a nail salon, fitness center and courtyard. The hotel is owned by Santa Rosa Plaza, LLC and managed by Interstate Hotels and Resorts. The Embassy Suites Hotel - Albuquerque will cater to both the business and leisure traveler and is located within one mile of the Albuquerque Convention Center. The 261-suite hotel is owned by Mr. Hammons and operated by John Q.
