Three Key Execs Appointed at Swissôtel
The Drake, New York City

NEW YORK � (May 4, 2005)� David Gibbons, general manager of Swissôtel The Drake, a leading New York City luxury hotel located at Park Avenue and 56th Street, has announced three key management appointments naming Stéphane Lafon as food & beverage director, Roy Lamberty as executive chef and Slavka Kmec as rooms division manager.

Stéphane Lafon, Food & Beverage Director

As new food & beverage director, Lafon�s responsibilities include overseeing all food & beverage needs for the 495-room hotel, including its restaurant, Q56, banquets and room service.

Prior to joining Swissôtel The Drake, Lafon operated and renovated The New Orleans Grill (formerly known as The Grill Room) and the Polo Bar and Lounge at the Windsor Court hotel in New Orleans.  Before that, he worked for the Ritz Carlton Palm Beach, Florida, as executive steward and maître d�hotel and manager of both restaurants, 100 South Ocean and The Restaurant.  He has also held various food and beverage management positions at numerous highly acclaimed hotels including, Turnberry Isle Resort and Club in Aventura Florida; the Waldorf-Astoria in New York City; and the Fountainebleau Hilton Hotel and Towers in Miami Beach, Florida.

Lafon received a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management from Florida International University, Miami Beach, as well as a Diplome d�Université  d�Etude Générale from the Université de Lettres de Nice, France. 

Roy Lamberty, Executive Chef

Roy Lamberty has been promoted to executive chef, and in his new role has responsibility for Q56, banquets and room service.  Lamberty�s previous experience includes the kitchens at some of New York City�s most prestigious hotels, including The Stanhope Hotel, Trump International (under the direction of Jean Georges Vongerichten), The Regency Hotel and the Omni Berkshire Place. 

He completed his culinary arts studies at the New York Restaurant School.  The influence of Lamberty�s own heritage (French, Italian and Spanish), combined with being born and raised in New York City, has enhanced his understanding of how to create cuisine that is as diverse New York itself, but with balance, harmony and finesse.

Slavka Kmec, Rooms Divisions Manager

Slavka Kmec has been named rooms division manager at Swissôtel The Drake with responsibility for all aspects of housekeeping and front office operations.  Kmec began her hospitality career with Costa Cruise Line, and traveled the Caribbean and Mediterranean Seas for almost two years.  In 1995, Kmec joined Swissôtel The Drake as housekeeping manager, and her performance during that time earned her an award as �Manager of the Year� and a promotion to reception manager at the hotel.  She gradually assumed more responsibility, and was promoted to assistant front office manager and later front office manager.  After a short break from the hotel business, Kmec returned to Swissôtel The Drake as rooms division manager in December 2004.

Born and raised in the Slovak Republic, she received a degree in Economy and Tourism from the Hotel University in Banska Bystrica in 1993.
