June 22, 2005 - Larkspur Hospitality, one of the nation's fastest growing
independent hotel companies, announced today that it has acquired the Hyatt

a Larkspur Hotel. The hotel will become part of the Larkspur Collection

"We are thrilled to welcome The Sainte Claire to the Larkspur Collection," said Karl Hoagland, chairman, president, and CEO of Larkspur Hospitality. "To purchase a hotel with as much history and grandeur as The Sainte Claire, adds tremendous value to our growing family of hotels. We have a plan in place to invest significant capital into the hotel for improvements that will deliver our guests exceptional comfort, productivity and the best possible hotel experience." Located in downtown San Jose, across the street from the San Jose McEnery Convention Center and just three miles from Mineta International Airport, The Sainte Claire features 171 guest rooms and suites. The guest rooms offer country French décor, feather down beds and complimentary wireless Internet access. The 17 suites differ in size and shape, ranging from Parlor Suites offering a King bedroom and separate sitting room, to the Deluxe Grande Suite with two King bedrooms, a boardroom table and a fireplace. The Sainte Claire features nine meeting rooms providing more than 10,000 square feet of state-of-the-art meeting and banquet facilities that can accommodate groups of up to 450 people for a variety of events. In addition, The Sainte Claire offers a stunning 1,656 square-foot skylight meeting room, which is unique in San Jose. A full range of audio visual equipment and wireless high-speed Internet connections is available to support all event needs. The hotel also houses Il Fornaio Cucina Italiana, offering guests award-winning Italian cuisine. With a seating capacity of 220, the restaurant also features two private dining rooms and an outdoor courtyard. The Panatteria, located within the restaurant, provides guests with a variety of freshly baked breads, pastries, cookies and specialty coffees. The Sainte Claire has a long, storied history and is among San Jose's most recognizable landmarks. Opened in 1926, The Hotel Sainte Claire, as it was originally named, was considered to be the center of social and cultural life in the San Jose area. Today The Sainte Claire is a member of Historic Hotels of America, a program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation which recognizes hotels that have maintained their historic architecture and ambience.
