San Francisco's Intercontinental Mark Hopkins |
Atlanta, April 8, 2005
San Franciscos famed InterContinental Mark Hopkins is again making its
mark on the landscape of the Nob Hill area by becoming one of the first
area hotels to offer complete wired and wireless Internet technology to
their guests from the lobby to meeting and guest rooms, thanks to Atlanta-based
StayOnline.
We have seen StayOnline successfully provide service to other prestigious, historic properties and we know they have the knowledge and expertise to offer the Mark Hopkins the kind of system and service that our guests expect as well as offer state-of-the-art network services to support other mission critical applications, said Campbell Black, General Manager, InterContinental Mark Hopkins. After looking at several providers, we decided that StayOnline offered us the best coverage for the best value. The Mark Hopkins was opened in 1926 and has undergone a comprehensive renovation since 2000, bringing stunning interior architecture and the latest technology to this grand dame overlooking San Francisco City and Bay. This historic landmark hotel at the crest of illustrious Nob Hill is also following an industry trend of offering wireless Internet access directly to meeting planners and attendees. With more than 19,000 square feet of premium meeting space spread through 20 separate rooms, the Mark Hopkins offered StayOnline the challenge to develop and install a system to give the hotel control over which meeting rooms have access to the wireless connectivity and when. Additionally, The Mark Hopkins plans to leverage this wireless network to provide wireless voice-over-IP services to support operations. At the Mark Hopkins, we were able to provide the hotel with unique access and security for each segment of their meeting space and each back office application on their drawing board. We take pride in listening to the needs of each client property and in executing a wireless solution incorporating our state-of-the-art equipment and engineering techniques, said Antonio DiMilia, President and CEO of StayOnline. Proper RF (radio frequency) design can be complex for a property of this caliber. We simply didnt offer a cookie-cutter solution to the Mark Hopkins because we know each of our clients needs are unique. While guests have driven the demand for wireless
in hotels, historic properties
StayOnlines wireless system is easier for us since the technology is so seamless with no cords and cables, said Black. StayOnlines infrastructure and its well-known 24/7 call center makes logging on and staying on very easy and seamless for our guests and staff. In addition, we know that it is flexible enough to run future applications that will designed to bring our staff closer to the guest experience. The StayOnline wireless system that we installed at the Mark Hopkins is designed to support various back office applications such as wireless VoIP, said Antonio DiMilia, President/CEO of StayOnline. Visionary hotels, such as the Mark Hopkins, are turning to us to meet their technology needs today and plan for tomorrows applications which will save time and money for both the guest and the hotel. About StayOnline
