Former SunBurst Resort Transformed With New
Rooms, Spa, Restaurant, Pools and New Name -
Caleo Resort & Spa
.
SCOTTSDALE, AZ (April 21, 2005) Caleo, pronounced (kuh-lay-o), is Latin for inspire with passion, and the staff and owners of this completely renovated property in the heart of Scottsdale believe the name speaks for itself.  With the addition of a new spa, new restaurant, new room product, new meeting space and new pool and public areas, Caleo Resort & Spa has been transformed into an intimate, luxury, boutique property, unique to an area that is well-known for its sprawling golf resorts and large conference hotels.

With the completion of this major transformation, Caleo is an entirely new resort in every respect, comments Bob Foster, general manager of Caleo Resort & Spa.  From both the product and service perspective, the changes to the resort are impressive and have inspired a completely new feeling that we are excited to share, added Foster.

Formerly known as SunBurst Resort, the property, a member of Noble House Hotels & Resorts, has completed a $9 million transformation.  Completed in three stages over the last 18 months, the transformation of the resort includes structural renovation, addition of amenities and heightened service elements throughout.

Rooms

The new room product at Caleo reflects the new sensual feel of the resort.  The new beds have been outfitted with pillow top mattresses and luxurious linens.  Carrera marble and stained, grayed, raised tile floors have transformed the bathrooms.  Premium rooms have plasma flatscreen televisions.   On-Command in-room movie service has also been added to all rooms.  Each room has a private balcony or patio, many lightly draped with white sheers to create an intimate setting, perfect for enjoying a nightcap and the view of the stunning new pool area.

SpaTerre

Last year, the resort opened a 3,500 square-foot Indonesian-inspired spa, SpaTerre.  The spa has become a peaceful haven for those looking for a more personal experience, a nice change from the large spas in the area. The spa consists of seven treatment rooms, including one couples massage room.  The treatment rooms feature copper soaking tubs and colored glass chandeliers to create an elegant, yet comfortable environment.    Some include a private shower and private bath.  SpaTerre also features a wet room with Vichy Shower, facial room, manicure/pedicure room and a meditation room just off the lobby with access to the spa, fitness and pool areas.  Specialty treatments include the Javanese Lulur Royal Treatment, Thai Kelapa Massage, Balinese Massage and Samunprai.  SpaTerre is the signature spa of Noble House Hotels & Resorts.

BALEENscottsdale

The resort also welcomes the addition of the nationally acclaimed BALEEN restaurant and lounge, the signature fine dining brand of Noble House Hotels & Resorts.  Originally launched at the companys Grove Isle Hotel & Spa in Coconut Grove (Miami), BALEENscottsdale debuted as the brands fifth location, following others in Naples, FL; San Diego, CA; and Santa Fe, NM; with the Daytona Beach Shores, FL restaurant to follow in Summer 2005.

BALEEN features simply prepared, ocean-inspired cuisine with regional and local flavors.  The restaurant offers candlelit dining inside as well as stunning outdoor seating.  Guests come into the restaurant through a dramatic entrance, created by wooden latias.  The indoor restaurant features a rustic southwest wood floor, white table linens and the restaurants signature monkey chandeliers.   Outside, lagoon-like pools and fire elements surround the dining terrace, with the desert sky as the ceiling.  An indoor lobby lounge, with a living room feel and roaring fireplace, offers drinks, entertainment and light fare.  A sand pit, fire pit and Moroccan adornments create a separate outdoor lounge for guests to have drinks and socialize before and/or after dining.

Pools

Over $500,000 was invested into landscaping the pool areas, to create an oasis in the middle of Scottsdale.  Sitting amidst the palm trees, private cabanas and roaring fire pits, guests can feel as if they have been transported to an island getaway, without leaving the desert.   A sand-bottom pool and beach area are separated from the main lagoon-like pool by a walking bridge, allowing children a pool area of their own, complete with waterslide.  There is event space for weddings or banquets and intimate seating areas set throughout, to create unique waterside settings for any function.

Meeting Space

The renovation of the resorts function areas has created a total of 14,000 square feet of meeting space, consisting of 13 meeting rooms with individual room capacity for up to 500.  A remodel of meeting and public space, including new carpeting, wall coverings, chandeliers and a new ceiling were installed in the Arizona Ballroom.  The Zuni Room features a wood-burning fireplace and has a connecting patio for indoor/outdoor functions.  The Kuchina offers a unique setting for an upscale board meeting, with skylights, a break area and desert foliage to enhance the mood.

Public Areas

Guests entering Caleo Resort & Spa experience the new resorts ambiance from the moment they arrive.  Sheer drapery graces the entrance of the completely renovated Porte Cochere and accents the resort throughout.  Additional renovation of the Porte Cochere included the removal of the front wall and the addition of three water and fire columns, to create an entrance that mirrors the natural design elements of water and fire running throughout the resort and further enhances the already mystical Sonoran Desert landscape.

The resort has also gone wireless, offering Internet access in all guest rooms, lobby, pool area and conference space. Hi-speed connectivity is also available in guest rooms and meeting space.

Caleo Resort & Spa is located at 4925 N. Scottsdale Road, Scottsdale, AZ 85251.
