Bartech Develops Custom Minibar for the Famous
Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas

-- Minibar Leader Reaches More Than 15,000 Minibars in U.S. Casinos --

BWI CORRIDOR, Md. (April 26, 2005) – Bartech Systems International, a provider of minibar solutions and one of the the leaders in automatic minibar technology, has announced that it has developed a customized automatic minibar for new 300-room south tower of The Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas.  Known as one of Las Vegas’ hippest destinations, the Palms asked Bartech to design a minibar system satisfying the unique guest needs of the resort. Now, Bartech has units in more than 15,000 casino guest rooms across the U.S. with almost 11,000 rooms installed or contracted in Las Vegas alone.

The Palm’s new minibar is customized -- in and out -- to fit a distinctive guest lifestyle and the décor of its rooms. The all stainless steel minibar fits the modern style of the guest room and is sized to fit in the existing television armoire. Inside the minibar has been modified to include a third row for product on the inside door, increasing its capacity to 24 mini bottles up from 16.

The Palms selected Bartech for its ability to build a minibar that reflects the personality of its guests.

“Bartech was able to work with us to display the product mix that characterizes a younger guest demographic.  Our guests tend to be under forty and want a wide variety of choices in addition to beer and wine – that’s why we asked Bartech to design the third row in the door,” said Fred Flamm, Director of Property Operations at the Palms.

The Palms is also the first casino in Las Vegas to use Ethernet communications to connect the automatic minibars in each guest room to the Bartech server, then to the property management system.  Bartech is the only vendor with field operation systems leveraging Ethernet (TCP/IP) communications.  With no propriety issues or special expertise required, Bartech’s Ethernet communication provides a reliable, inexpensive, and easy-to-maintain system for the hotel. Most properties are forced to use the older, specialized technologies that are installed in the guest rooms, such as twisted pair or coax, for minibar/PMS communications.

“The Palms is a one-of-a-kind Las Vegas destination and we have designed a distinctive minibar that reflects its energy and young attitude,” said Mark Holzberg, President of Bartech, The Americas.  “This project gave us the opportunity to really put our years of experience to task in developing a system that truly fit the personality of both the guest and the property, while still delivering on the operational and profitability goals of management.”

“Bartech is committed to the casino resort market as evidenced by our dedicated sales and support organization located in Las Vegas and our growing relationship with casino properties across the country,” commented Marc Cohen, Bartech’s Vice President of Casino Sales.

Bartech automated minibars provide the ability to control and track refreshment revenues and usage.  Charges are posted directly to the guest folio in the property management system (PMS) in real time, making minibar operations efficient and profitable while minimizing guest disputes and lost revenues.  Plus, Bartech’s software provides the refill and reporting information to speed replenishment, eliminate expired inventory, reduce energy costs and enhance merchandising for popular high-profit products.
