Sedona Rouge Hotel & Spa Appoints Seven to
Management Posts; Hotel Opening Spring 2005

SEDONA, Arizona (March 24, 2005) - The developers of Sedona Rouge Hotel & Spa, opening in June 2005, have announced the appointment of the facility's key managers who will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the hotel and spa.  Situated within the breathtaking beauty of the legendary Red Rock landscape, Sedona Rouge Hotel & Spa brings a new dimension of hospitality to the beautiful town of Sedona.

"These seven individuals collectively represent an enormous amount of experience in the hotel and spa industry," said Jim Apple, Sedona Rouge principal.  "Our aim is to bring a new dimension of hospitality, spa amenities, sophistication and fine dining to the beautiful town of Sedona, and this can only be accomplished with the right people at the helm.  We believe we have assembled the team of exceptionally capable professionals necessary to ensure an unparalleled experience for each of our guests." 

The Sedona Rouge & Spa management team includes:

Ed Conway, general manager of Sedona Rouge Hotel & Spa, provides a wealth of practical experience as well as impeccable credentials from tenures with prestigious international hotels in South Africa and Russia.  After graduating from University of Nevada Las Vegas Conway began his career as the hotel manager at the Alexis Park Resort Hotel in Las Vegas.  He then spent several years in the food and beverage industry at the Elangeni Hotel in Durban, South Africa and the Universal City Hilton and Towers in Universal City, California.  Conway worked with several smaller boutique hotels including the Marco Polo Hotel's Beresta Palace in Russia and the Hotel Savoy in San Francisco before becoming the director of culinary operations for the prestigious California Culinary Academy, where he was responsible for all restaurant, catering and retail operations.  Conway most recently served as general manager at the Greenhorn Creek Resort in Angels Camp, California and the Radisson Hotel in Dublin, California.

Toni Nurnberg, spa director at Sedona Rouge Hotel & Spa, has worked in a variety of positions in the spa industry, including serving as co-founder and owner of two massage schools, the Desert Institute of the Healing Arts in Tucson and The Connecting School of Massage in Telluride CO.  Nurnberg began her career as the lead massage therapist at The Peaks at Telluride Resort. She created the spa for The Franz Klammer Lodge in Telluride CO and then went on to open the prestigious Mii amo at Enchantment Resort in Sedona, where she was responsible for creating the entire treatment program, spa menu and product development.  Nurnberg next brought her expertise to the ShaNah Spa at Bishop's Lodge in Santa Fe, New Mexico, where she served as the opening Spa Director.

Kyle Evans brings to his new role as executive chef at Reds an impressive resume of distinguished service at Napa Valley and Arizona eateries.  Evans has worked at some of the Wine Country's finest restaurants, including the Napa Valley Grille and the renowned Domaine Chandon, where he served as chef de tournant and accompanied the executive chef to international cooking festivals.  Evans then took his skills overseas, securing a position at the Michelin-star-rated  L'Essentiel in Chambery, France.  Evans is also extremely familiar with high desert cuisine, having worked at Chez Marc Bistro in Flagstaff, the Desert Highlands Golf Club in Scottsdale, and most recently as chef de cuisine at the Squaw Peak Pointe Hilton's Lantana Grille in Phoenix. 

Karla Lewis brings more than 14 of years of experience to her role as director of sales.  Her comprehensive understanding of luxury accommodations and service was cultivated at some of Sedona's finest hotels including the Amara Creekside Resort, Hilton Sedona Resort & Spa, Enchantment Resort and L'Auberge de Sedona, where she was awarded the 1998 "Manager of the Year" award.  Throughout Lewis's career, she has worked in special events, restaurant management and catering and served as managing partner for Sun Sedona LLC, providing her with a comprehensive background in the hotel, food and travel industries. 

Patricia Stuckey, director of marketing, has devoted her career to the hospitality and tourism industry.  In 19xx, she founded Stuckey & Associates, a company focused on destination marketing.  Her portfolio includes sales and marketing for the Enchantment Resort, Hilton, Radisson and Ritz Carlton in Scottsdale, Phoenix and Sedona areas.  Stuckey was instrumental in the opening of the Sedona South and West Gateway Visitor Centers in conjunction with the Arizona Office of Tourism.  She also implemented the marketing and promotion for the Red Rock Pass Program and was influential in promoting the Sedona Cultural Park and the Sedona International Film Festival. 

Jeff Marquardt, director of rooms, most recently worked at the Sheraton Sonoma County, in Petaluma, California.  Marquardt was accountable for all day-to-day front office operations of the 180-room Starwood property where he distinguished himself by increasing the GSI scores (guest satisfaction index scores) from the lowest to the highest percentile.  Prior to the Sheraton, Marquardt acted as the front office manager for several Auberge Resort properties in the affluent Marin County area, north of San Francisco.  With an exceptional range of skills, from accounting and finance to management and guest services, Marquardt is a welcome member of the Sedona Rouge management team.

Tauseen Malik, restaurant manager for Reds, has managed international eateries at some of the world's most renowned hotel chains.  Fulfilling a lifelong wish to work in the hospitality industry, Malik attended the Swiss Hotel Management School in Montreux, Switzerland and then began his career at Hilton International in Geneva.  He moved to the United States to manage the two on-site restaurants and bars at the Hilton in Hilton Head, South Carolina.  Adding to his international experience, Malik next went on to work at the Radisson in Manchester, U.K. and most recently at the Holiday Inn in Staffordshire, U.K.
