Shangri-La Opens New Property, Announces Additional Projects

Shangri-La Hotel, Fuzhou Opens its Doors

Hong Kong (January 26, 2005) - Asia Pacific's leading luxury hotel group, Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, today announced the opening of its 19th hotel in mainland China, the Shangri-La Hotel, Fuzhou.  The hotel is the first international five-star standard hotel in the city, the capital of Fujian province.

Strategically situated in the heart of Fuzhou, overlooking Wuyi Square and the scenic areas of Wushan and Yushan, Shangri-La Hotel, Fuzhou is within walking distance of municipal government offices and shopping areas, and a 45-minute ride to Fuzhou Changle International Airport. The hotel is conveniently located for both business and leisure visitors.

The 414-room hotel is designed by Tokyo-based KKS Architects and US-based Wilson & AssoShangri-Laciates Interior Design. All guestrooms provide an array of modern facilities and services, including 24-hour in-room-dining, satellite TV, computer data ports and broadband Internet access.  The four floors of Horizon Club offers personalized service and a host of exclusive privileges and amenities.

Shangri-La Hotel, Fuzhou provides several options for dining and entertainment. Innovative lighting is combined with traditional and artistic Chinese décor in the Summer Palace Chinese restaurant, which can accommodate 110 guests in the main dining room, with additional seating of up to 235 in its 13 private rooms. The restaurant features an eclectic mix of authentic Min (Fujian province) and Cantonese cuisine as well as a variety of seafood.

Open for all day dining, eZ Cafe presents several open kitchens where culinary artists are on "show" creating local and international cuisines. The refined decor of Korye Jung Korean Barbecue Restaurant is enhanced with authentic rustic touches and the menu offers Korean Royal Court cuisine and Korea's best loved dishes such as Bulgogi-barbecued beef.   Overlooking famed Wuyi Square and the hotel's own lush gardens, the Lobby Lounge is a place to relax and enjoy a selection of speciality teas.

The hotel has extensive meeting and banqueting facilities. Its ballroom is the largest in Fujian province, accommodating up to 1,800 guests.  Seven additional function rooms of smaller sizes cater to more intimate meetings or social gatherings. All these are supported by audio/visual, lighting, translation and video/tele-conferencing facilities.

The Business Centre offers a range of secretarial services in addition to private meeting rooms.  The hotel's fitness facilities include a gymnasium, aerobics room, spa, indoor swimming pool and tennis courts.

Shangri-La's First Mongolia Hotel to Open End of 2007

Hong Kong (January 26, 2005) - Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, Asia Pacific's leading luxury hotel group, announced today it will open a new hotel in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of the Republic of Mongolia, the end of 2007.  It will be Shangri-La's first hotel in the Republic of Mongolia and the country's first hotel by an international hotel group.

A joint venture between Shangri-La Asia Limited and MCS Holding, Mongolia, the 190-room hotel will be a part of an office, retail and hotel complex, which is located at the east side of the Sukhe-Bator Square, between the City Theatre and Peace Avenue, in the center of Ulaanbaatar city.

The modern hotel will feature various dining and entertainment options including an all-day restaurant, Chinese restaurant, theme outlet, bar and lobby lounge.  The meeting and banqueting facilities will include a 12,920-square-foot grand ballroom, and 6,890 square feet of function rooms. Recreational facilities such as indoor swimming pool, health club and spa, will also be available.

Resort and Spa, Boracay to Open Mid-2007


Hong Kong (January 2005) - Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, Asia Pacific's leading luxury hotel group, has announced it will open a new spa resort in Boracay, Philippines in mid 2007, to complement the group's existing four properties in the Philippines.

The beachfront resort on Boracay island will be designed by Hawaii-based architect firm WATG, and the interior design will be headed by well-known Singapore-based designer Dan Bube, who is designing the group's Maldives resort.  The resort will reflect a classic yet contemporary style combined with local cultural influences.

All the resort's 170 large guestrooms and 50 deluxe villas, with average floor space of 485 and 970 square feet respectively, will feature ocean views from spacious balconies or porches. Villas will include an outdoor plunge pool, a shower, a whirlpool, a pergola for al fresco dining and a day bed for relaxation or massage.

The resort's dining and entertainment options will include a poolside bar, lobby lounge, pub, all-day dining coffee shop with outdoor seating, and specialty restaurant located on a spectacular promontory offering 360 degree ocean views, with indoor and outdoor seating.

Shangri-La Resort and Spa, Boracay will provide the largest meeting and banqueting facilities on the island with a 6,460-square-foot ballroom and 4,300 square feet of function rooms.  An outdoor wedding pavilion with panoramic views will accommodate 50 persons for weddings or special events.

The resort will feature a 14,530-square-foot CHI spa, Shangri-La's signature spa brand, with treatments based on Chinese and Himalayan healing concepts.  Located on a rock peninsula in the ocean and overlooking a private bay, CHI will be a separate spa village complex designed as a sanctuary within the resort. The spa village facilities will include deluxe villas for half or full day use, and smaller suites for hourly treatments.  A spa pool will be set within the landscaped garden.

In addition to CHI spa, recreational facilities such as outdoor tennis court, free form swimming pool, health club and marine center with diving facilities will also be available.

A one-hour flight south of Manila, Boracay is an ideal tropical vacation destination.  The picturesque island has more than 30 beaches, foremost of which is the two mile White Beach with pure white sand, which is widely considered to be among the world's best beaches.
