January, 2005 - The Town of Payson, Arizona and Hospitality Support
Group have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to create a mixed use development
on the 36-Acre site which is home of the oldest continuous rodeo in America.
The centerpiece of the site will be a new 90,000 square foot multi-purpose
event center and a 150-room full service hotel and conference center.
With a total of 100,000 Square Feet of event space the site will be the
largest conference/
The new multi-purpose event center will be on par with the best rodeo arenas in the West. The 12,000-seat event facility will be capable of hosting regional and national Equestrian events, concerts, auto shows, trade shows and regional and national conferences and conventions. The 150-room hotel and conference center will provide a venue for hosting meetings and banquets for the entire Rim Country. The conference center will have a 6,000 square foot Grand Ballroom and several smaller break out rooms. Rounding out the site will be �1884 Saloon and Western Steakhouse�. The restaurant will honor the founding year of the Payson Rodeo. The restaurant will have separate facilities for outdoor banquets up to 600 people and extensive patios and scenic vistas.
