Doubletree Hotels Spending $300 Million in Product Enhancement Across North America;
Adds Six New Hotels

.

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. - -Jan. 20, 2005 -- Doubletree(R) Hotels (NYSE:HLT) announced today that the brand has successfully reached the halfway point of an aggressive $300 million product enhancement program being undertaken by property owners. During the past several months, the Doubletree executive team has implemented a series of new brand standards. From innovative designs to guest technology services to a luxurious sleep experience, the brand's main vision behind this effort is to reinvigorate the hotel experience and provide today's travelers with more of the true comforts they enjoy at home.

"Our brand-wide renovation resolution demonstrates how hotel owners are reinvesting in Doubletree, because they see a unique opportunity to build customer loyalty behind a full-service hotel brand that continues to show promising growth in a very competitive market," said Dave Horton, senior vice president -- brand management for Doubletree Hotels.

Modern Designs and Amenities Refresh The Doubletree Hotel

Many Doubletree owners are going the extra mile to refresh all areas of their hotels with classic and sophisticated designs, beautifully crafted furnishings and upgraded amenities. As part of their product improvement efforts this past year, some Doubletree hotels even expanded their meeting facilities to meet the stringent certification standards of the International Association of Conference Centers (IACC), while others have added state-of-the-art fitness facilities, new restaurants and executive floors.

Doubletree has taken the extra step to help hotel owners with valuable resources to revitalize their hotel guestrooms. A collection of three, turnkey designer guestroom packages has been developed exclusively for the brand by a select group of interior designers specializing in hospitality design. From 27" televisions and ergonomic desk chairs to tufted carpeting and contemporary artwork, every element has undergone testing in real hotel environments to ensure the utmost in functionality, durability and customer appeal. The end result is an all-inclusive solution that can substantially minimize project costs and significantly reduce the time needed to complete the typical guestroom renovation.

"We identified unique ways to simplify the design and installation process. Owners and developers have shown great interest and taken advantage of our designer guestroom packages to help them complete their product enhancement projects on time and on budget," mentioned Horton.

Technology That Travelers Want Now Available At Doubletree

Doubletree is currently in the final stages of deploying a four-point guest technology initiative which includes high-speed Internet access in all meeting rooms; high-speed Internet access in all guestrooms; complimentary, wireless high-speed Internet access (wi-fi) in all hotel lobbies, lounges, restaurants and public areas; and secure, remote guest printing service for all Ethernet-capable and wi-fi devices. Installation of the Doubletree Travel Technology Solution is scheduled to be completed and available in all hotels later this spring.

"The Doubletree Travel Technology Solution provides frequent business travelers with the convenience of being connected throughout our hotels and the essential technology services to stay productive when on the road," Horton noted.

New Sleep Experience Brings Sweet Dreams To Doubletree Guests

Getting rest and relaxation away from home can be difficult, that's why Doubletree is proud to welcome guests with the brand's new sleep standard, the Sweet Dreams(R) by Doubletree sleep experience, which includes:

  • A custom-designed plush-top mattress that is directly supported by coils for a comfortable night's sleep.

"Whether converting an existing property to re-energize its product performance or building a hotel from the ground up, the Doubletree brand provides hotel owners and developers with a great vehicle to grow their investment and acquisition opportunities," said Dave Horton, senior vice president - brand management for Doubletree. "Our development team has received significant interest from hoteliers throughout the U.S. and Canada who appreciate the flexibility and affordability of our brand's turnkey development tools, as well as the opportunity to reposition their assets with the worldwide recognition of the Hilton Family of hotels."
