Abu Dhabi, January 2005: Al Raha Beach Hotel, the first five-star deluxe boutique hotel in Abu Dhabi, has opened for business. The 110-room property is operated by Danat Hotels & Resorts, the Abu Dhabi-based hotel management company.

The hotels general manager Claude Kaiser said: This resort is really a haven of elegance and comfort. With a limited number of rooms, we can concentrate on personalised service and we will deliver to the highest standards.

We are ideally positioned in a tranquil setting on the beach, enabling our guests to enjoy privacy and an uninterrupted view of the Arabian Gulf.

The property has an ideal location close to Abu Dhabi International Airport and Abu Dhabi Golf Club, and equally suitable for those with business in Abu Dhabi or Dubai Dubai is just an hour away or those looking to experience the first boutique resort in the capital.

As well as the deluxe rooms, the resort also has a number of lavishly decorated suites: five Royal Suites, complete with maids quarters and private dining room; two Diplomatic Suites and four Executive Suites.

Most of the suites have uninterrupted sea views, as well as a private health club including swimming-pool, sauna and steam room and on-demand spa facilities.

If official meetings or gala events are on the agenda, the hotel also offers a choice of one ballroom (which is dividable in two parts) and four conference and meeting rooms.

Food & beverage

The resort has opened with three outlets, with another three to open over the next few weeks.

Sevilla is the resorts all-day dining restaurant: serving breakfast until noon, Sevilla has the longest breakfast hours in the UAE, before moving on to an a la carte Mediterranean menu for the rest of the day.

From morning to night, Viennese chocolate pralines and pastries, cakes, sandwiches and a range of teas and coffees are available in the cool confines of the Mozart Café in the lobby.

After sunset, guests can enjoy the live music in the elegant Black Pearl piano bar, while choosing from a wide menu of cocktails and assorted canapés.

Leisure

For leisure facilities, guests can lounge by the pool or on the beach; rejuvenate at the Body & Soul spa and health club and indulge in a massage or beauty treatment, sauna or steam, or work up an appetite in the gymnasium, equipped with state-of-the-art equipment.

Soon to open are the hotels squash court and tennis courts too, as well as transfers on request to the Abu Dhabi Golf Club, just 10 minutes drive away, complete with two PGA 18-hole golf courses.

Boutique retail therapy is key to the resorts offering, according to Kaiser. He said: Over the next few months, we will be unveiling a number of boutiques in the hotel, where guests will be able to browse around the jewellery, perfume, designer-wear, craft and leather shops.

Moreover, the resort is situated next to the upcoming Al Raha Beach Mall scheduled for opening later this year which is connected to the resort by a private walkway.

Al Raha Beach is operated by Danat Hotels & Resorts, the umbrella brand for the hotel division of National Corporation for Tourism & Hotels (NCT&H).

Aiming to capitalise on the growing reputation of the Arabian Gulf for exceptional hospitality and customer-focused service, Danat Hotels & Resorts gradual expansion is to establish a name that will be recognised as a quality mark by customers in the Middle East and overseas.

Danat Hotels & Resorts, a division of the Abu Dhabi-based National Corporation for Tourism & Hotels (NCT&H) manages two new five-star resorts, the Danat Resort Jebel Dhanna and the Al Raha Beach Hotel, as well as a cluster of four-star properties in the emirate. The hotels are either owned and/or managed by the group, or where the group is the owner-representative.

The National Corporation for Tourism & Hotels (NCT&H) was formed in 1996 in response to the need to develop both tourism and commerce in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), especially Abu Dhabi.

The Corporation was formed as a semi-government organisation. NCT&Hs primary objective is to promote Abu Dhabi as an international destination, manage hotels and provide transportation and industrial catering services.
