HOTEL Asia Pacific has won the 2005 PATA (Pacific Asia Travel Association)
Gold Award for the best business article. This is the fourth consecutive
year that the magazine, established in January 2000, has been honoured
in the awards.
The winning article, Who Wins?, appeared in the January/February 2004 issue of the magazine. The indepth cover story investigated the complex and controversial maneuverings that led to Starwood Hotels & Resorts securing the management contract of the Westin Grand Sukhumvit Hotel in Bangkok, and the ensuing court case between Starwood and would-be owner Asia Hotel Investments.
According to PATA, the Gold Awards: “recognise exceptional achievement in a variety of endeavors, bringing acclaim to the best the region’s travel industry has to offer. The winning projects set industry standards for excellence and innovation.”
