Hotels’ Highest Sales Achievement Award – the
Victor G. Trapani Award for Sales Excellence
|SILVER SPRING, Md. (Feb. 22, 2005) -- Choice Hotels International,
Inc. (NYSE:CHH) recently honored its top-selling franchise sales and development
team with awards for outstanding sales performance and dedication in 2004.
The awards celebrate record franchise development for the company in 2004,
with 552 new contracts executed, the most in a single year in the company’s
“2004 was a year of record achievements in system growth,” said Chuck Ledsinger, Choice Hotels’ president and chief executive officer. “This is a tremendous testimony to the marketability of our brands and to the talent, resourcefulness and professionalism of our sales team.”
Choice Hotels’ highest sales achievement award – the Victor G. Trapani Award for Sales Excellence – was given to Franchise Sales Director Tesh Patel, who also received the Salesperson of the Year Award for outstanding sales achievement on the Limited Service Team. Patel executed 25 contracts in 2004, adding over 2,100 new guest rooms to the system.
The Victor G. Trapani Award is named in memory of a Choice Hotels franchise sales executive who lost his battle to cancer in 1995. It is presented to the individual who most represents continued top sales performance, professionalism and overall enthusiasm.
“Tesh Patel has been a top performer year after year and is always willing to step up for the team. He has given his all both in training new directors and in supporting management and company objectives,” said David Pepper, senior vice president, Franchise Sales and Development.
Salesperson of the Year Awards were also given to the sales professionals from each brand team who excelled in performance and professionalism in 2004. In addition to Patel, the winners of the “Salesperson of the Year” awards were: Guy Gridley, Ford Barton, Brian Bible and Brian Ebbs.
Also announced were 28 recipients of Choice Hotels’ President’s Award, which honors franchise sales professionals who achieve or exceed their performance quotas.
This year Choice Hotels conferred a new award, the Paul Sterbini Excellence Award in honor of Paul Sterbini, recently retired as the company’s vice president of Fair Franchising. The award, given to the sales person who most demonstrates enthusiasm and dedication, went to Milt Steiner, whose sales career with Choice Hotels spans at least 37 years. Steiner was the top franchise sales performer for the Clarion brand in 2004. He has executed over 600 new franchise contracts during his career with Choice Hotels.
The Rookie of the Year Award was given to Stacy Ragland, who was responsible for delivering eight franchise contracts in just six months on the job.
