Harrison Lodging Super Bowl Wager
75 Beneficiaries of South Middlesex Opportunity Council
Wellesley, Ma. – February 10, 2005 – The Super Bowl
just isn’t the Super Bowl without a wager between friends, or in this case,
between ARAMARK Harrison Lodging conference centers in New England and
Philadelphia. The winners didn’t make a dime, but instead donated
food baskets to their favorite charitable outlets.
thought a similar wager could be put to better use,” said Johns, general
manager, Babson Executive Conference Center. “Knowing how committed ARAMARK
is to the communities it serves, I jumped at the chance to have some fun
and help local charities at the same time. Encouraged by last year’s
success and New England’s repeat at the Super Bowl, I knew I had to put
the challenge out again.”
The two colleagues agreed that the person from the losing city would provide food baskets for local charities in the winner’s locale. The number of baskets would be determined by the Super Bowl point spread, with a minimum of three to be distributed.
Thanks to the Patriots’ 24-21 victory over the Eagles, Villanova Conference Center will fund three ARAMARK food baskets for a charity in the Boston area.
Each basket serves 25 people and contains all the fixings for a turkey dinner, including two turkeys, 10 pounds of potatoes, vegetables and three pies. The donation will be made to the South Middlesex Opportunity Council in Framingham.
Pitocchelli acknowledged that the donation softened the blow of his team’s Super Bowl loss. “Either way it was a win,” said Pitocchelli. “It was a great way to commemorate our team’s participation in the Super Bowl and to give something to an ARAMARK community. I’m hoping for a rematch next year!” Johns’ wish is that the New England Patriots will help him keep this tradition alive and create a “three-peat” for New England charities!
