SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 5, 2004 - The historic Cartwright Hotel, a 91-year-old
landmark located near San Francisco's world famous Union Square, will celebrate
a recently completed $2.5 million refurbishment with a private grand unveiling
celebration for the city's business community on Oct. 21st.
A property-wide restoration began
soon after Rhode Island-based Magna Hospitality Group, L.C. purchased the
hotel from the Kimpton Group in October 2003. Highlights include
a complete makeover of guest rooms, meeting rooms and lobby; restoration
of existing antique furniture and the addition of matching reproduction
pieces; installation of complimentary wireless high-speed Internet access
in every room; and new amenities, including the city's only complimentary
deluxe continental breakfast with make-your-own waffles, coffee and fresh
juices.
"The improvements to the eight-story hotel are just breathtaking," said
Magna's Chairman William F. Burruss. "We've |

replaced the elevators, as well as all of the hotel's wall coverings, drapery
and floor coverings. One of the best things about the landmark is
its location -- only a block from historic Union Square and the classic
cable cars that ride along Powell Street. "Magna will roll out the red
carpet during a private tour, luncheon and evening reception for businesses
and organizations such as Chambers of Commerce in the San Francisco area.
The Cartwright, which was built in 1913, will be re-introduced as a
fully restored boutique and small meetings hotel catering to leisure and
business travelers, government leaders, business executives, and social
groups. A new staff, including hotel General Manager Fred Rapp and Director
of Sales and Marketing Ron Davis, will be introduced during the day-long
celebration.
