to Six Companies; Rational Cooking Systems Voted “Best of Show” |

| NEW YORK, NY, November 14, 2004…The ninth annual Editors’ Choice Awards
were presented to six winners, along with the Kenneth F. Hine award for
“Best of Show”, during the opening ceremony of the International Hotel/Motel
& Restaurant Show® (IH/M&RS), at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits
Convention Center.
Editors from the top hospitality and culinary trade publications reviewed more than 130 submissions and selected outstanding new products in six categories: Décor, Flavors, Restaurant, Technology, Essentials and Luxury. The winners are: Kenneth F. Hine “Best of Show” – RATIONAL Cooking Systems Inc. (Schaumburg, IL) for its SelfCooking Center, which automatically calculates temperature, moisture and cooking time. Decor – Saflok (Troy, MI) for its Odyssey Lock, which combines distinctive styling with superior security, ease of use and functionality. Flavors – Crossings (Worcester, MA) for its tartlet shells by CROC’IN, made without color agents and can be used for appetizers or desserts. Restaurant – RATIONAL Cooking Systems Inc. (Schaumburg, IL) for its SelfCooking Center, which automatically calculates temperature, moisture and cooking time. Technology – Teledex LLC (San Jose, CA) for its ExpressNet AirLink, which enables a property’s existing phone line to become a wireless access point. Essentials – Hospi-tel MFG Co. (East Orange, NJ) for its CleanRest Mattress Cover, which is made of breathable, microporous, waterproof material. Luxury – Riverside Design Group (Pittsburgh, PA) for its Plates with Purpose-Hospice /Butterfly Plate, a line of custom glassware created through a partnership with non-profit organizations. “The winners of this year’s Editors’ Choice Awards exemplified some of the most innovative, cutting-edge products in the hospitality arena,” said Christian Falkenberg, show manager. “As always, the IH/M&RS is a platform for new trends and product launches for all sectors of the hospitality industry.” Judging criteria included innovative product design or construction, how a product answered an industry need, and development or use of a new technology. Judges for the Eighth Annual Editors’ Choice Awards for Best New Products were: Lisa Shames, Equipment Solutions; Mitchell Schechter, Foodservice Equipment & Supplies; Brian Ward, Foodservice Equipment Reports; Mario Schacher, Global Foodservice; Heather Gunter, Hotel & Motel Management; Karyn Strauss, Hotels; Phil Hayward, Lodging; Edward Watkins, Lodging Hospitality; and Fred Klashman, Total Food Service.
