“If you haven’t thought of capitalizing on the traveling pet market in the past, now is the time to make the change,” states Marc Clark, Ph.D., CHA, CHRE, CHE, president of M. Douglas Clark & Associates in his article “Rolling out the Red Carpet for Pampered Pets.” The first thing he suggests is listing your pet friendly location on Web sites such as BringYourPet.com.

“BringYourPet.com has made the ‘discovery’ easy by listing hotels, motels, inns, B&Bs, cabins and condos that provide for traveling pets. Along with state-by-state listings, the Web site offers free and helpful information regarding pet care, travel tips and links to other pet sites,” states editor Lytha Page Belrose in her article “Pet-Friendly Vacations Cater to a Large Market.”

“Recent additions to BringYourPet.com include properties from major chains, as well as privately owned vacation rentals and B&Bs,” says company spokesman Brian Bailey, “Our staff has worked tirelessly to find caring, affordable and high quality places to accommodate pets.”

Pets are quickly becoming America’s newest growing travel group. Sources at the Travel Industry Association estimate that 14% of Americans who vacation this year will do so with the family pet.
