After One Year of Operation, Hyatt Regency Downtown
Boston (formerly operated by Swissotel) Sees 18%
Increase in Occupancy Over the Previous Year

.

Boston, MA -- November 2, 2004 -- After one year of operation, Hyatt Regency Downtown Boston has seen over 18% increase in occupancy over the previous year when the hotel was operated by Swissotel.

Hyatt took over the hotel in July, 2003 with only a small number of mid-size conferences. One year later the hotel has seen an 80% increase in the number of groups of this size, and the number is growing, indicating a growth in larger groups holding their meetings at the hotel.

The increase in occupancy is a result of aggressive sales efforts on behalf of the hotel staff and the ability to utilize Hyatt resources nation wide. The hotel is consistently drumming up new demand for the city. There has been a steady increase in transient room nights, and a significant increase in group room nights over the previous year.

A commitment to service

"We recently re-located offices, and location for our last minute meeting was key," said Molly Sullivan, Event Coordinator, AMR Research. "We ended up with a lot of vendors and more people than anticipated. It was a real logistical nightmare. We were switching room set-ups to accommodate our sell-out group even as the event was happening. The staff at Hyatt Regency Boston anticipated our every need and executed the event flawlessly for our attendees. It was a great experience and I look forward to holding other events at the hotel."

Roche Laboratories had a meeting with 300 rooms per night, and they needed more function space than was available. Hyatt built a new room, The Nantucket Room, to provide additional meeting space for groups. They also presented Lowes Movie Theatre as an option for general session space. On a Sunday afternoon, the General Manager of the hotel walked over to Lowes and arranged for a theatre for Roche Laboratories to use for their Monday morning session.

Janet Cone, President of Compass View Events, a full service meeting and event company for Fortune 500 companies. Compass View Events always tries to match the venue with the client. "Hyatt Regency Downtown is a special venue. They have wonderful food and a great staff," said Janet Cone. "The staff is very hands on, personable and results oriented. I consider Hyatt Regency Boston a real jewel in Boston".
