| 6 December 2004 - The Shangri-La Hotel, The
Marina, Cairns celebrated a major milestone with its official rebranding
launch on Friday, 26 November 2004. Special guests, including the
Mayor of Cairns and Senior Management from Shangri-la Hotels & Resorts,
enjoyed a night of spectacular celebrations. Based on Shangri-La�s
corporate advertising promotion �Between Heaven and Earth�, an evening
of mystical enchantment captivated guests. Formal proceedings began with
a traditional welcome to tribal land, culminating in a stunning fireworks
display and lighting of the Shangri-La sign.
This auspicious occasion marks a new chapter in luxury accommodation that is now available in Cairns. With $35 million in renovations near completion, stylish new facilities such as our contemporary lobby, Horizon Club Room and Horizon Club Lounge has raised the bar in accommodation excellence and is sure to impress the most discerning traveller.
