as the 222 room Holiday Inn - San Juan
ATLANTA (Dec. 2, 2004) – InterContinental Hotels Group announced today that a newly renovated 222-room hotel in San Juan has opened as the Holiday Inn-San Juan after completing a $14.5 million renovation.
The hotel boasts contemporary décor throughout the lobby and guestrooms and renovations include newly designed bathrooms in all guestrooms, high-impact glass windows and new air conditioning throughout. A free-formed pool and tropical deck area were also part of the hotel’s renovations.
“We are pleased to welcome San Juan’s first Holiday Inn to our family of hotels,” said Mark Snyder, senior vice president, Brand Management, Holiday Inn Hotels & Resorts. “Development in resort destinations is key in expanding our Holiday Inn consumer base and establishing a strong presence in one of America's most well-known tourist spots.”
“Forty years ago, the San Juan Racquet Club sat on this property, and later became the Carib Inn until 1998,” said Rick Newman, president, Flagship Resort Properties. “Vacant for six years, we purchased the property, invested more than $14.5 million to convert this property to a Holiday Inn and we are thrilled with the end result.”
The Holiday Inn-San Juan, which is owned and managed by Flagship Resort Properties under a license agreement with a company in the InterContinental Hotels Group, is located at 8020 Tartak St., Carlina, Puerto Rico. Telephone: (787) 253-9000; Facsimile: (787) 791-2246.

With 15,000-sq. ft. of function space, including two ballrooms and eight meeting rooms, the hotel is available for business meetings and banquets.
The hotel has three themed dining facilities: Vin Santo, a contemporary tapas and wine bar; J.H. Yee’s, a modern Asian-fusion eatery and Fantasia, serving Californian-Caribbean cuisine and the Holiday Inn Best-4-Breakfast® menu. The restaurants also offer the Kids Eat Free program, where up to four children per family eat free for up to three meals per day at all Holiday Inn hotels in the United States and Canada.
