Plans Conversion to Radisson Hotel |
.
MILWAUKEE, Nov. 30, 2004 - Odyssey Glendale Hotel, LLC ("Odyssey")
today announced completion of its acquisition of the 133-room Manchester
East Hotel & Suites located at 7065 N Port Washington Road in Glendale.
This is the company's second hotel acquisition within the last 14 months
and is part of Odyssey's plan to grow a portfolio of hotel properties across
the Wisconsin market. The company has committed to a multi-million
dollar re-vitalization program and has entered into a contract with Minneapolis-based
Carlson Hotels Worldwide, parent company of Radisson Hotels & Resorts,
to convert the property to a Radisson hotel.
"Radisson is excited to add this strategically positioned property to our locations in the Midwest," said Bjorn Gullaksen, brand leader for Radisson Hotels & Resorts and executive vice president of Carlson Hotels Worldwide Full Service Hotels. "The hotel has long served the community, and transient, and corporate business travelers since it's opening in 1983. Odyssey's investment in upgrading the hotel with a comprehensive renovation plan, will bring new life to the property and provide customers with Radisson's personalized 'Yes I Can!' service and upscale product standards." "The hotel will undergo a comprehensive and ambitious renovation over the next eight months designed to meet the needs of the market," said Victor Guzman, co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of Odyssey. "We plan on making the property one of the finest hotels in the area," added Guzman. The hotel will continue to conduct business during renovations. Bentley's Restaurant and Lounge featuring casual, comfortable and contemporary dining remains open. The unique banquet facilities will remain and include over 9,000 square feet of convention and event space. The Symposium, a graduated theatre with auditorium-style seating, is perfect for "eyes forward" presentations and is one-of-a-kind in the North Shore area. The atrium, commonly known as Central Park will be revitalized. This arboretum, with its outdoor cafi atmosphere of live plants and trees is a popular area for wedding ceremonies and receptions. According to Guzman, the hotel is to be managed by the Odyssey Hotels Group ("OHG"). OHG is another company the founders have funded to provide the hospitality industry with management talent and new efficiencies via computerized systems and services. Radisson Hotels & Resorts(R), one of the world's leading, full-service hotel companies, offers warm and engaging genuine hospitality at every point of guest contact. There are currently more than 435 Radisson locations in 61 countries. |
