SC - December 7, 2004- The Courtyard by Marriott Charleston Downtown/Riverview
has been purchased by JHM Hotels of Greenville, SC. With 179 rooms
and nearly 2,000 square feet of meeting space, the hotel is perfectly positioned
to meet the needs of both business and leisure travelers who want to be
located close to Charleston�s Historic District. The hotel is located
on the banks of the Ashley River adjacent to the Ashley Marina and across
the street from the Medical University of South Carolina complex.
Originally opened in September 1997, the hotel is currently managed by
Marriott International. This acquisition adds to the JHM portfolio
in Charleston. In October 2003, the company purchased the Charleston
Riverview Hotel that is slated to be converted to a Marriott by the 1st
Quarter of 2006 following extensive renovations. With control of
521 rooms on the Charleston peninsula, JHM Hotels becomes the largest room
inventory holder in the market.
