Park Hyatt Zurich First Purpose-built Luxury Hotel
to Open in Zurich for Over 20 years

.

Zurich, September 29, 2004  - Nestled in the heart of the city's bustling financial and commercial district, Park Hyatt Zurich is the latest addition to the exclusive Park Hyatt portfolio.  Surrounded by the major financial houses and minutes away from the boutiques of Bahnhofstrasse, Lake Zurich and the beautiful Old Town (Altstadt), the hotel is ideally positioned for both the business and leisure traveller.  Unparalleled service and facilities are perfectly complemented by the sumptuous yet understated décor of the 142 rooms and suites, all of which provide cutting-edge communications technology to rival the luxury of the appointments.

Built on the site of the Escherwiese car park, Park Hyatt Zurich is the first purpose-built luxury hotel to open in Zurich for over 20 years.  Park Hyatt hotels are luxury boutique hotels that are distinguished by their prime locations, exceptional interior design and works of art.  Park Hyatt Zurich is no exception and bears the hallmarks of Swiss quality combined with the imaginative flair and taste that Jan Clausen and her team from Hirsch Bedner Associates (HBA) has brought to this project.

The heart of the hotel is its public areas.  The main entrance on Beethoven-Strasse

leads to an understated yet elegant entry foyer.  Upon entering the lobby, guests step into a world of sumptuous elegance that is in every sense larger than life.  At ten metres high, the reception area is large enough to house its own bamboo garden set upon the polished blackberry-coloured granite floor.  Cream-coloured leather panelling covers the walls of this vast three-storey space filling it with warmth.

'parkhaus' is a bold and vibrant restaurant featuring a centrepiece show kitchen and a two-storey wine library and can hold over 3,000 fine wines.  The menu is product-driven and concentrates upon natural produce from local artisan producers.  Adjacent to 'parkhuus' and separated by iridescent copper mesh glass panels is the ultra chic 'ONYX' bar.  In the evening the copper mesh panels slide back to expose a full bar, and the sound of live music and dancing filter into the streets when the exterior windows are lifted.

As with the public spaces, guestrooms and suites are exquisitely furnished to accentuate the sense of welcome and create an atmosphere of comfort and rejuvenation.  Designed with understated simplicity all guestrooms are decorated in warm tones that reflect the natural light and enhance the lavishness of the fabrics and artistic touches.  Even the oversized headboards use 100% natural materials and have been designed by a local artist.  As well as offering the finest in luxury, all rooms are also tech-smart, with high-speed internet access available and state-of-the-art Bang & Olufsen flatscreen television, DVD and stereo equipment as standard.

Pampering is available from Club Olympus situated on the Mezzanine floor where private treatment facilities provide an extensive range of beauty and holistic packages.  As well as providing exclusive guest access to sauna and steam rooms, Club Olympus also boasts the very latest in fitness technology from Technogym.
With over 1,000 square metres of conference and meeting space, Park Hyatt Zurich is an intimate boutique hotel with a large meetings capability.  All meeting rooms provide state-of-the-art facilities and can accommodate up to 445 guests.  The ground floor ballroom is 405 metres square and will comfortably accommodate 330 guests for a gala dinner.  The ballroom can provide access for cars if required and is easily accessed through a large pre-function area that can be used for exhibitions, cocktails or coffee breaks.  High-tech multi-media and lighting systems will be applied throughout.

There are 213 Hyatt hotels and resorts around the world, which are managed by two separate groups of companies.  Subsidiaries of Hyatt International Corporation operate, manage or franchise 89 hotels and resorts in 39 countries, with an additional 23 hotels under development.  Hyatt Corporation, a separate company, and its subsidiaries operate, manage, franchise or lease 124 hotels and resorts in the United States, Canada and the Caribbean.
