LITTLE ROCK, Ark - Sept. 15, 2004 -- Gregg Herning has been named general
manager for The Peabody Little Rock and has been installed in his new role.
The announcement was made Wednesday, September 8, 2004, by Marty Belz,
president and chairman, Peabody Hotel Group, Memphis, Tennessee. Herning
replaces the hotel's previous general manager, Timothy S. Gonser, vice
president, food and beverage, Peabody Hotel Group, who will be devoting
his time exclusively to food and beverage issues.
Herning, a native of Detroit, Michigan, was educated at Bethel Christian College, New York, NY, and holds a Business Management degree from Phillips College of Business, Gulfport, MS. He is a member of Meeting Planners International, and a featured guest speaker at meetings of the prestigious Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI). Herning began his hotel career at the Royal d'Iberville Hotel, Biloxi, MS., where he cut his teeth in hotel sales, national account management, and learned the ropes of general hotel management through his leadership role in re-opening the property after a severe hurricane. Stints with Westin Hotels, Western Hospitality Inns, and Garland Resort & Garland Development followed, leading to his appointment in March, 2001 as director of sales and marketing for "The South's Grand Hotel," The Peabody Memphis. "Having been exposed to the charm and grace of Southern hospitality through my position at The Peabody Memphis, it is a special delight to me and my family to be given the opportunity of leading The Peabody Little Rock," said Herning. "I have been very happy at The Peabody Memphis, and will always hold a special place in my heart for it. "The Peabody Little Rock truly is magnificent, and I am eager and excited to get started on a whole new era of sustained, professional sales and marketing, and general hotel management. Training will be stepped up and ongoing, and Peabody Service Excellence(R), our patented hotel guest services program, will be vigorously implemented 24/7." The Peabody Little Rock, a Four Diamond hotel, is a property of Peabody Hotels within the portfolio of Peabody Hotel Group of Memphis, Tennessee, and is a member of Preferred Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. |
