The Americas
Michael Deitemeyer, formerly Omni Hotels� Chief Operating Officer, has been promoted to President. Deitemeyer is a thirteen-year veteran of Omni Hotels and its parent company, TRT Holdings. He joined TRT in 1992 as Controller and moved up in the ranks to become Chief Operating Officer of Omni Hotels in 1999.

Clyde Min is now Vice President Asset Management for Host Marriott Corporation in Bethesda. Min was formally with Colonial Williamsburg Company Hospitality Group as Vice President, Hospitality Operations and General Manager of the Williamsburg Inn. Min also logged seven years with Disney in Orlando and Tokyo.

Georgina Sussan has joined Decatur Hotels in New Orleans as Chief Operating Officer. Sussan was previously the General Manager of Disney�s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.

John Johnston will take on the new position of Executive Vice President for Europe, Africa and the Middle East for Fairmont Hotels & Resorts. A former Four Seasons and Loews man, he was most recently Fairmont's Executive Vice President, Development.

Ron Gulasa has been hired by Centex Destination Properties to the newly created position of head of hospitality, based out of Orlando. Gulasa has been in the Orlando region for several years as the General Manager of the Kesssler Collection�s Doubletree Castle, and the Sheraton Studio City.

Tom Storey is taking on the new role of Executive Vice President, Development, at Fairmont Hotels & Resorts. Prior to this appointment, he served as Fairmont's Executive Vice President, Business Development and Strategy.

Martin Sinclair has been promoted to General Manager of the Four Seasons Resort Nevis. Sinclair joined the property in September 2002 in the role of Resort Manager. Taking over for Sinclair as Resort Manager will be Todd Cilano, currently the Director of Rooms at the Four Seasons Hotel London. Sinclair is preceded as General Manager by British-born Robert Whitfield, who will join the new Four Seasons Hotel in Palo Alto as General Manager.

Rik Blyth is the new Managing Director of Caneel Bay, taking over for Brian Young who relocated to Dallas as Rosewood�s Vice President of Operations, Resorts. Blyth, who began his career with Hyatt Hotels in Seattle in 1980, is no stranger to the Virgin Islands. He first moved to St. Thomas in 1995 to work as a General Manager at the Sugar Bay Resort. During his eleven-year tenure in the islands, he has held General Manager positions in the Virgin Islands and in Puerto Rico.

Joining the Grace Bay Club on the hip island of Providenciales as General Manager is Nikheel Advani. He comes from Raffles Singapore where he held the position of Executive Assistant Manager. At Grace Bay, Advani takes over from Martein Van Wagenberg.

Laurence Magor has temporarily taken over for Mark Briskin as the new General Manager of the Muse in New York City. Magor was previously the General Manager at the Latham Hotel and the Georgetown Inn, both in Washington, DC. Like the Muse, both properties are operated by Interstate Hotels.

Gregor Andreewitch is the new General Manager of the Drake Chicago for Hilton International. He replaces Jean-Marie Grouard, who left the company.

David Lurie joins the St. Julian Hotel in Boulder, as General Manager. Lurie was most recently the Director of Hotel Operations at La Mansion del Rio and the Watermark Hotel & Spa both in San Antonio.

Jonathan Wise has left the Hotel Villa Del Sol where he had been the General Manager for the past two years. He is replaced by Jose Matilla. Prior to moving to Mexico, Wise was the Director of Operations at the Delamar. He also worked as Resident Manager at the Iroquois in New York.

Andy Anderson has been appointed Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing by Destination Hotels & Resorts. Anderson previously was a partner in Atef Mankarios� Foresthills Hotels and Resorts. He is also a former Vice President of Sales and Marketing of Rosewood.

Albert Herrera is leaving Rosewood�s Carlyle where he has been the Director of Sales and Marketing since early 2001, to become the Managing Director, Hotel and Resort Programs, for Virtuoso. Herrera spent many years with Four Seasons and Mandarin-Oriental both domestically and in Asia. He had been with Rosewood since 1998.

Jon Eric Baxter has joined Uniworld Global in Los Angeles as Chief Financial Officer. Baxter is a former Chief Financial Officer of Rosewood, a company he joined following a twenty-year career with Intercontinental.

Maureen Callahan was promoted to Vice President of Marketing for Destination Hotels & Resorts. Callahan began her career with the company as Director of Sales and Marketing for the Gant in Aspen.

Joel Freyberg is the new Hotel Manager at New York�s Hotel Gansevoort. Freyberg was most recently the Director of Housekeeping at the Carlyle.

Stephen Peters has re-joined the Pan Pacific Vancouver as Hotel Manager. From 1988 to 1998, Stephen led the Sales and Marketing activities for the hotel before becoming its Executive Assistant Manager from 1996 to 1998. 

Caroline Wilson-Kent has left her long-time post as Director of Sales and Marketing, The Americas, for Oberoi, to join the Dorchester Group of Hotels as Director of Sales and Marketing, North America, based in New York.

Tina Lyra has joined the Grace Bay Club in Turks and Caicos as Director of Sales and Marketing. Lyra was formerly the Assistant Director of Catering at the Regent Singapore and a Group Sales Manager at the Ritz-Carlton New York Battery Park.

Jean Loubat has been appointed Hotel Manager at the Hotel Parker Palm Springs. He was until recently a Food and Beverage Consultant for the Brown Palace in Denver. Prior to that, he worked as the Hotel Manager at the Hotel Intercontinental Dallas.

Jonas Niermann has re-joined the Langham Hotel Boston, formerly Le Méridien Boston, as Director of Operations/Resident Manager. He is replacing Bob Van Den Oord who moved to Hong Kong as General Manager of the Eaton Hotel. Niermann worked at the property before and was until 2000 its Director of Front Office Operations.

The Millennium UN Plaza Hotel has named Philip Skitch its new Executive Assistant Manager. Previously, Skitch was the Resident Manager at the Royal Lancaster in London.

Alberto Pirozzini has been appointed Director of Operations at the W Los Angeles. He was previously the Assistant Rooms Executive at the Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel. He also worked as a Front Office Manager at the St. Regis Hotel and Spa in Los Angeles and held various guest services positions with Four Seasons in Scottsdale and Aviara.

Trevor Stuart-Hill has been promoted to the position of Vice President, Distribution and Revenue Systems for Destination Hotels & Resorts. In addition, Greg Staley joins the company as Director of Reservations and Revenue Systems. Staley joins Destination�s corporate office from the Pointe South Mountain Resort where he was the Director of Reservations.

Jennifer Long has been named Director of Website Marketing by Destination Hotels & Resorts. Long began her tenure with the company at the Inverness Hotel & Conference Center and joined the marketing department in the corporate office a year later.

Jolinda Everist is the new Director of Marketing of the Four Seasons Atlanta. Everist was previously at the Omni Houston and replaces Tom Stafford who moves to the Four Seasons Worldwide Sales Office in Atlanta.

Alana Miranda is the new Director of Sales, North America, for Starwood�s three resorts in French Polynesia: the Sheraton Hotel Tahiti, the Sheraton Moorea Lagoon Resort & Spa and the luxurious Bora Bora Nui Resort & Spa. Miranda spent the last five years as West Coast Regional Sales Manager for Hilton Resorts Hawaii and previously represented Accor. She will continue to be based in Los Angeles.

Cindy Gagle-Smith jumps clear across the country to be the new Director of Sales and Marketing at the Mandarin-Oriental Elbow Beach in Bermuda. Gagle-Smith worked previously in a similar capacity at the Lodge at Sonoma Renaissance Resort and the Sunburst Resort in Arizona.

June Mariani has recently been appointed Director of Sales at the Homestead Inn in Greenwich, a Relais & Chateau. Mariani relocated from Boston where her past experience was as Manager of Private Events for both Radius and Via Matta restaurants.

Kevin Oake has been appointed Director of Sales at the Pan Pacific Vancouver. He joins Pan Pacific following eleven years with Fairmont in Vancouver and Victoria.

Michael Platt has joined the Pechanga Hotel and Casino in Temecula as Vice President Food and Beverage. He was previously the Director of Food and Beverage at the St. Regis Los Angeles.

Tim Gustie has been transferred in the same position of Director of Food and Beverage from the Four Seasons Wailea on Maui to the Regent Beverly Wilshire. He replaces Khalid Mirza.

Matthew Siegel has been appointed Director of Food and Beverage at the Wilderness Ridge Golf and Lodge. He worked previously in the same capacity at Turks and Caicos Beaches, at the Melrose in Dallas and at the Whitehall in Chicago.

Troy Wood has been appointed Director of Catering and Convention Services at the Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort and Spa. A 16-year veteran of Hyatt, Wood most recently worked at the Hyatt Regency Jersey City.

Brian Ettelman has been named Director of Catering and Conference Services at the Four Seasons Hotel Atlanta. Ettelman was most recently the Director of Catering at the Four Seasons Resort and Club Dallas at Las Colinas. Before transferring to Dallas, he was a Food & Beverage Manager and, subsequently, the Catering & Conference Services Manager at the Four Seasons Resort Aviara.

Jerry Maon has been appointed Director of Rooms for the soon to open Intercontinental Atlanta. He comes from the Intercontinental Cleveland, where he was the Director of Rooms Division.

Steve Shern has accepted the position as Director of Rooms at the Four Seasons Resort and Club Dallas. He joined Four Seasons right out of the hospitality program at Washington State University working in Seattle, Chicago, Atlanta and most recently as Director of Rooms in Las Vegas, where he has been for the last four years.

James McAnally has been named Rooms Executive at the Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort and Spa. He most recently worked in the same capacity at the Hyatt Regency New Brunswick.

The Loews Santa Monica Beach and the Loews Beverly Hills announced the appointment of Kyle Pettipher as Director of Revenue Management. Prior to joining Loews, Pettipher worked in a similar capacity at the Pittsburgh Hilton.

Gene Roch has been appointed Human Resources Director at the Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort and Spa. Prior to this position, Roche was the Assistant Human Resources Director at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta.

Joining the Intercontinental Atlanta as Director of Human Resources is Laura Hamilton. Hamilton was previously at Orient-Express�Windsor Court in New Orleans for four years in the same capacity. She also held positions with Four Seasons and Ritz-Carlton.

Peter Galletti is the new Director of Engineering and Property Operations for the Sea Island Company. Galletti was previously a Vice President of Construction for Gruppe in Dallas.

Jill Winberg, formerly the Spa Director at the Resort at Squaw Creek, has joined Miraval as Assistant Spa Director.

Michael Soriano will be leaving the Millennium Biltmore Los Angeles to be the new Director of Housekeeping at Le Méridien at Beverly Hills. Also leaving the Biltmore is the Executive Assistant Manager in charge of Rooms, Marc Choplick. Choplick will now be the Director of Operations at the Four Points Sheraton in Santa Monica.

Gillian Ballance is joining Plumpjacks Restaurants in San Francisco as Wine Director. Ballance was most recently the Wine Director at Bacara Resort and Spa in Santa Barbara. She began her wine career at Windows on the World.

Bruno Bertin has joined Cuisine Solution in Washington, DC as Executive Chef. Bertin recently ran his own catering company in New York and prior to that was a Chef Partner of L�Amuse Bouche Catering in Geneva, Switzerland. Before that, he worked as the Executive Chef of Feast and Fêtes Catering in New York for Daniel Boulud.

Bruno Lopez is the new Executive Chef at the Regent Beverly Wilshire. Lopez comes from Raffles L�Ermitage in Beverly Hills, just a mile away. He previously spent ten years with Ritz-Carlton in Dubai, Marina del Rey, San Francisco and Half Moon Bay. At the Beverly Wilshire, he takes over from Urs Balmer, who has left the company.

Charles Hechinger has been appointed Executive Chef at the Claremont in Oakland. Hechinger was previously at the Lodge at Vail and spent many years in San Francisco cooking at the Pan Pacific, the Argent and the Hyatt Regency.

The new Executive Chef at Masa's in San Francisco is Richard Reddington, who recently left Napa Valley's L'Auberge du Soleil after four years. Joining Reddington as Chef de Cuisine at Masa's is Gregory Short, who until recently was cooking at Montage in Laguna Beach.

Ed Gannon, formerly the Chef de Cuisine at the Four Seasons Boston, has opened Lure in Nantucket. His replacement at the Four Seasons is Jérome Legras, formerly the Executive Chef of the boutique Four Seasons Tokyo at Marunouchi.

Jonathan Gelman has been appointed Executive Sous Chef at the Arizona Biltmore Resort & Spa. He comes from Michael's at the Citadel, in Scottsdale, where he served as Executive Chef of Catering & Banquets. Previously, he was the Owner and Executive Chef of Napa Gardens Catering, in California.

Lamberto Valdez has opened as Chef-Owner El Chamol Restaurant in Palm Beach. Valdez was formerly the Executive Chef at the Ritz-Carlton Jupiter Golf and Spa and the Sofitel Miami.

Thierry Grodet has been promoted to Executive Chef at the Westin Peachtree Plaza in Atlanta. Grodet was previously the Executive Sous Chef at the Westin Diplomat Resort and Spa in Florida.

Mark Sapienza has returned to the former Méridien Boston, now the Langham, this time as the Chef de Cuisine at Julien. Sapienza used to be the hotel's Executive Chef until he left two years ago to be the Chef and Partner at the Bay Tower, also in Boston.

Michael Gillet has been appointed Executive Pastry Chef at the Phoenician. He was previously with the Peninsula Chicago as Pastry Chef and also worked as Assistant Pastry Chef at the Ritz-Carlton Naples. Gillet's prior experience includes Pastry Chef at La Grenouille in New York and Pastry Sous Chef at Le Cirque 2000.

Chris Wilson has joined Twin Farms in Vermont as Pastry Chef. Wilson was previously at the Inn at Little Washington in Virginia in a similar capacity.

Europe
Daniel Boudet a well-known General Manager with Méridien Hotels, whose career took him to several continents, passed away following a long illness. Boudet was most recently the General Manager of Paris� Le Méridien Montparnasse.

Michele Pani is the new General Manager of Le Méridien Rimini. He replaces Mario Murtas who is now the General Manager in Milan at the Grand Hotel Duomo. Pani has been in the position of Vice President Sales & Marketing for Turin Hotels International since May 2000 and before that spent his career with Forte Hotels & Le Méridien.

Christoph Mares has been promoted to General Manager of the Royal Monceau Mandarin-Oriental in Paris. Mares has been with the company for over six years, most recently as the General Manager of the Mandarin-Oriental Munich and Resident Manager in London.

Philippe Berry is the new General Manager of the Grand Hôtel de Saint-Jean-de-Luz. He replaces Fabrice Castellorizios. Berry's previous experience includes General Manager of the Chequit Inn and Ram�s Head Inn on Shelter Island.

Nicola Terlizzi has transferred to the Meliá Olbia Resort & Convention Center as General Manager. Terlizzi has been with Sol Meliá since 1999 at the Tryp Verona Hotel & Convention Center, Meliá Pharaoh in Egypt and Meliá de Mar in Palma de Mallorca.

Antoon Hollants Van Locke is the new Hotel Manager for Le Méridien Apollo in Amsterdam. Van Locke was previously Operations and Support Manager at Méridien Hotels' headquarters based in London.

Traci Halliwell has been appointed Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing by Millennium and Copthorne Hotels and Resorts in London. She was previously with Méridien Hotels and Resorts as Director of Sales and Marketing based out of the Los Angeles Regional Office for four years and as Director of Sales in London.

Frank Boizot has been appointed Director of Sales at the Hotel Warwick Geneva. Boizot, a Lausanne graduate, was previously with the Elior Group for three years as Director of Sales of Honoré James Traiteur.

Stéphane de Robien is the new Director of Sales and Marketing at the Hotel Négresco in Nice where he is replacing Barbara Kimming.

Benoît Peters has left his position of Dining Room Director at Alain Ducasse�s Louis XV in Monaco to join Zebra Square Monte-Carlo as Director of Operations.

Olivier Chaleil will be moving from Reid�s Palace, Madeira, to Le Touessrok in Mauritius as Executive Chef.

Pascal Legrain has been appointed Executive Chef at the Vila Sol Spa Golf and Resort in Portugal. He was previously in a similar position at Le Méridien Cancun for two years and also worked at Las Ventanas Al Paraiso and Le Méridien Barcelona in a similar capacity.

Asia and the Pacific
Susanne Hatje has been promoted to General Manager at the Landmark Mandarin-Oriental, due to open mid 2005 in Hong Kong. Hatje has worked for Mandarin-Oriental in senior positions for nearly five years. She joins the Landmark Mandarin-Oriental from her previous post as Resident Manager at the Kahala Mandarin-Oriental in Honolulu. Prior to that, she was the General Manager of the Mandarin-Oriental Munich.

Scott Mawhinney has left the recently opened Brentwood Bay Lodge in Canada. He will be the opening General Manager of the Evason Hideaway at Ana Mandara, a new Six Senses Resort and a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World.

Desmond Hatton has been appointed General Manager of Shangri-La's Barr Al Jissah Resort & Spa Muscat scheduled to open next year. A native of Ireland, Hatton joined the group in 1994, as General Manager of Shangri-La's Fijian Resort and then transferred to the Traders Hotel in Yangon, the Rasa Ria Resort in Sabah and most recently the Mactan Island Resort in Cebu.

Timothy Wright will be Desmond Hatton's successor in Cebu. He was until recently the General Manager of the unopened Shangri-La New Delhi.

Gilbert Jung, the current General Manager of the Shangri-La Penang, will replace Wright in New Delhi. To replace Gilbert Jung in Penang will be C.V. Healy, who has been holding General Manager positions at the group's hotels in Taipei, Shanghai and Qingdao.

Urs Wuethrich is the General Manager of the Hotel Aryaduta in Jakarta. He was previously in Jakarta for Club Corporation of America and with Le Méridien for seven years in Asia.

Robert Logan has been appointed Executive Assistant Manager in charge of Food and Beverage at Raffles Singapore. He comes from the Four Seasons Bangkok and was previously the Director of Food and Beverage at the Four Seasons Dallas at Las Colinas.

Pieter Van Der Hoeven has been appointed Resident Manager of Anantara Resort and Spa Hua Hin. He was previously the Rooms Division Manager of the Peninsula Bangkok.

John Serbrock has been appointed Regional Vice President Sales & Marketing for the Asia Pacific region for Kempinski Hotels & Resorts based out of the Kempinski Hotel Beijing Lufthansa Center. Serbrock was previously the Group Director of Marketing and Sales for Bilderberg Hotels & Resorts for the past six years. He had worked with Kempinski from 1996 to 1998.

Mark Simmons is the Vice President of Business Development at Delivering Asia Limited in Hong Kong. Simmons was formerly the Hotel Manager at the Landmark Bangkok.

Roland Hinni is the new Director of Food and Beverage at the Hyatt Regency Cheju. Hinni was formerly with Ritz-Carlton at their properties in Sharm El Sheikh and Seoul as Executive Chef.

Jindawan Promteravong has been appointed Director of Sales and Marketing at the Park Plaza Resort & Spa in Nakhan Island near Phuket. She previously worked as Inbound Assistant Manager for GTA Gullivers in Jakarta and as Director of Sales -Travel Trade at the Peninsula Bangkok.

Vikram Singh has been appointed Director of Food and Beverage Operations for Taj Luxury Palaces in India and is in charge of the Rambagh Palace, Lake Palace and the new Falaknuma Palace. Prior to that, he was with Udaivilas for a year as Opening Food and Beverage Manager. He also worked in various food and beverage management capacities for Four Seasons in Seattle, Vancouver and Chicago.

Daniel Daughtry has been appointed Director of Conference and Food & Beverage Services at the Turtle Bay Resort. He was most recently the Director of Food & Beverage for the Pacific Islands Club Resort Saipan.

Malgorzata Bardzik-Cox has been promoted to Financial Controller at Hawaii's Turtle Bay Resort. She originally joined in 2002 assuming the role of Assistant Controller.

Marlon Hirsh joins the Four Seasons Jakarta as Director of Rooms. Hirsh, who joined the company just six months ago as Director of Housekeeping at the Four Seasons Austin had previously worked in Jakarta at the Hotel Mulia Senayan as Director of Rooms.

Charlie Chew has joined the Shangri-La Hotel Wuhan as Executive Chef from the Shangri-La Hotel Shenzhen.

Uwe Faust is the new Executive Chef at the Peninsula Bangkok. He transfers from the Peninsula Beijing where he had been the Executive Chef for over three years. Prior to joining Peninsula, Faust worked in the same capacity at the Oberoi Hotel and Towers and with Shangri-La in Indonesia, China and Bangkok.

Aldo Volpi is the new Chef de Cuisine at the Mandarin-Oriental Jakarta. He comes from Papermoon in Moscow.

Adam Watson has joined the Hilton Tokyo Bay as Chef de Cuisine. Watson comes from the Excelsior in Hong Kong.

Wing Ki Choi is the new Chinese Executive Chef at the Hyatt Regency Manila. Choi joins Hyatt from the Paradise Hotel and Casino Busan in South Korea.

David Gache has joined Le Méridien Jakarta as Executive Chef. Gache was formerly the Executive Sous Chef at the One&Only Royal Mirage Dubai.

Grégoire Simonin joins the soon-to-open Mandarin-Oriental Chiang Mai, as Executive Chef. Simonin was most recently the Deputy Executive Chef at Raffles Singapore.

Africa and the Middle East
Christian Antoine has moved to the corporate level with Jumeirah International in Dubai as Corporate General Manager Operations. Antoine was previously with their property, the Jumeirah Beach Hotel as Corporate General Manager.

Joerg Hauri, formerly the General Manager of the Movenpick Resort El Gouna in Egypt, is moving to Tunisia to become the General Manager of the Movenpick Ulysse Palace & Thalasso.

Doug King is the new General Manager at the Dusit Dubai. King was formerly with the Hotel Istana in Kuala Lumpur.

Nico Hallier is the new Hotel Manager at the Trou aux Biches in Mauritius, having recently been the Resident Manager at the Shandrani also in Mauritius.

Michael Thévenet has been promoted to Food and Beverage Manager at the Méridien President in Dakar. He was previously Assistant Restaurant Manager at the Hotel Méridien Etoile for four years and had worked as a Restaurant Manager at the Hotel Ambassador in Paris, at La Bastide de Gordes and at New York�s Auréole.

Christophe Widmer is the new Executive Pastry Chef at the Four Seasons Hotel Cairo. Widmer was formerly at the Hilton Tokyo.

Rolando Manesco has joined Dusit in Dubai as Executive Sous Chef. Manesco was formerly a Restaurant Chef at the Kowloon Hotel in Hong Kong.
