Abu Dhabi Fine-tuning its Tourism Infrastructure; Swathe
of New Resort Projects Throughout the Emirate

.

(Abu Dhabi, August 2004): Abu Dhabi is fine-tuning its tourism infrastructure with a swathe of new resort projects throughout the emirate extending its attractions beyond the downtown malls.

In tandem with other emirates such as Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah, where new resorts are also under construction, Abu Dhabi is to expand its resort options with a new boutique hotel at Al Raha, several international hotel resorts opening on the marina corniche and a flagship development at Jebel Dhanna, 240km west of the capital.

The latter is new territory for the tourist industry, but with acres of undiscovered beach ripe for development, its potential is unlimited.

Major international hotel groups have predicted a move to extend the UAE tourism product through the emirates, citing demand for new destinations from overseas operators as well as opportunities arising from new airline capacity at airports such as Abu Dhabi International.

Located opposite the Sir Bani Yas island nature reserve, the resort will offer some unique attractions for both the leisure and incentive sectors, according to Manoj Kanwal, General Manager of Danat Resort Jebel Dhanna.

A beach is vital for all resorts, but at Danat Resort Jebel Dhanna we will offer that bit more a unique opportunity to visit Sir Bani Yas, deserted desert dunes on the doorstep, as well as instant access to unpolluted Gulf waters for scuba and fishing trips.

As well as extensive banqueting, meeting rooms and outside areas catering for up to 1,000 guests, Jebel Dhanna also features a par-36 nine hole sand golf course and a driving range, plus a host of sports, leisure and restaurant facilities.

One of the key players in the new developments is the National Corporation for Hotels & Tourism (NCT&H), the owner / operators of Al Raha Beach Hotel, which is set to open its doors soon, followed by the Jebel Dhanna.

The National Corporation for Tourism & Hotels (NCT&H) was formed in 1996 in response to the need to develop both tourism and commerce in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), especially Abu Dhabi.

The Corporation was formed as a semi-government organisation. NCT&Hs primary objective is to promote Abu Dhabi as an international destination, supervise and manage hotels and provide transportation and catering services.
