StayOnline Helps Hilton Woodcliff
Break New Ground; Hotel
|
| Atlanta, GA (May 172004)
– Nestled among 21 acres of rolling hills, the Hilton Woodcliff Lake
hotel is a vision of comfort and serenity. But along with wooded
views and extensive landscaping, the Hilton is technically equipped to
handle its many business guests’ needs. Adding to its state-of-the-art
Amphitheater, the Hilton now provides complimentary wireless Internet in
all guest rooms and public areas. StayOnline, a leading provider of HSIA
for the hospitality industry, engineered the system for the hotel.
“We provided StayOnline with a technology challenge,” says Al Zaccario, director of hotel technology. “In addition to factoring in the age and design of the hotel, we also wanted to create different networks for different functions.” In each of the hotels guest rooms, wireless access is complimentary. But in the hotel’s meeting space, access is fee-based. And the hotel required that all authentication and proxy logins were removed to avoid VPN connection concerns some of its business customers had in connecting remotely to their respective offices. “Our goal was to provide a scalable, monitorable system that still met the tailored needs of our guests,” adds Zaccario. “StayOnline was able to engineer a system that fit our needs, and maintains a mechanism for easy troubleshooting when necessary.” “Working in an industry that is constantly evolving, flexibility is critical to survival,” says Antonio DiMilia, president of StayOnline. “We work with each property on an individual level to create a solution that works for the hotel as well as their guests. Each StayOnline installation is designed with future growth in mind.” Zaccario also noted that StayOnline’s use of non proprietary equipment was part of the decision factors. “The infrastructure StayOnline installed is scalable and adaptable, and as changes occur the migration path will be much easier and more cost effective than starting over.” The Woodcliff Hilton is the sixth New Castle property StayOnline has installed, and the company hopes to complete ten hotels by end of year.
