.
May 21, 2004 - The first IMHI Hotel Internet Marketing Strategy Conference
will take place in the Thistle Tower Hotel in London on Friday, 28 May
2004, immediately following the HEDNA (Hotel Electronic Distribution Network
Association) event being held earlier in the week. An exciting program
of speakers and panel sessions has been planned to help hoteliers recognise
and address the growing challenges of marketing on the Internet.
Internet marketing in Europe is different to what has already been experienced in the USA, according to Euan Mitchell, Director of e-Commerce at UK based Thistle hotels and one of the organisers of the conference. These differences are not in terms of the process itself but in terms of the key issues involved. This event represents the first major industry initiative aimed at tackling these challenges from a European perspective. The half-day program will focus on the key issues facing Internet marketers, summarize developing trends and challenges, analyse their implications and provide solutions and strategies to help maximise results in this developing arena. Keynote presentations will include Andrew Lothian from Demys Limited who will address the issue of domain name protection and Kristofer Peterson from Cogent who will speak about safeguarding your brand online. Panel sessions will concentrate on three main issues -
The conference is being organised by IMHI Institut de Management Hotelier International, an MBA program in International Hospitality Management jointly administered by the Cornell School of Hotel Adminstration (USA) and ESSEC Business School (France) in conjunction with the HSMAI Hotel Internet Marketing Committee, Americas Board.
