Hyatt International Appoints Four to GM Posts

Chicago, IL, May 20, 2004 - Mr. Bernd Chorengel, president of Hyatt International Corporation, is pleased to announce the following executive appointments:

Stephen Ansell has been appointed general manager of Hyatt Regency Bishkek.  Ansell, a graduate of Portsmouth University in the United Kingdom, consolidated his studies with food and beverage management experience in Munich, Mainz and Hong Kong before joining Hyatt International in December 1996 as director of food and beverage at the Hyatt Regency Riyadh.  In March 2000, he was appointed executive assistant manager - food and beverage for Hyatt Regency Istanbul where he was promoted to resident manager in October 2003. Ansell has held the position of resident manager of Hyatt Regency Bishkek since November 2003.

Peter Chau has been appointed general manager of Grand Hyatt Shanghai. Chau, a graduate of the Lausanne Hotel School, joined the team of Hyatt Regency Hong Kong in March 1978 as a corporate trainee, where he was later appointed assistant manager - front office. Following assignments in Rooms Management in Seoul and Surabaya, he was promoted to executive assistant manager of Hyatt Hotel Canberra in February 1987.  Chau held subsequent general manager assignments in Beijing, Guam and Tianjin before being appointed to his present position.

Michael Gray has been appointed general manager of Hyatt Regency London - The Churchill.  Gray, a graduate of Westminster Hotel School in London, gained practical experience in Rooms Management in London and Paris, and in May 1974 joined the team of Hyatt Carlton Tower as assistant manager - front service.  In January 1982 he was promoted to resident manager, and following a further assignment as resident manager of Grand Hyatt Singapore, was appointed general manager of Hyatt Hotel Canberra in March 1987.  Gray subsequently held general manager assignments in Melbourne and London, and since January 2002 has been assisting with various development projects in London. 

Kurt Straub has been appointed general manager of Park Hyatt Zurich.  Straub, a graduate of Belvoir Park Hotel School in Zurich, gained practical experience in Riyadh and Zurich before joining the team of Hyatt Regency Acapulco in January 1993 as assistant director of food and beverage.  Following further assignments in Food and Beverage Management in Singapore and Baku, he was promoted to executive assistant manager - food and beverage for Hyatt Regency Almaty in August 1997.  Straub had held his most recent position of general manager of Hyatt Regency Bishkek since February 1999. 

There are 210 Hyatt hotels and resorts around the world, which are managed by two separate groups of companies.  Subsidiaries of Hyatt International Corporation operate, manage or franchise 88 hotels and resorts in 38 countries, with an additional 21 hotels under development.  Hyatt Corporation, a separate company, and its subsidiaries operate, manage, franchise or lease 122 hotels and resorts in the United States, Canada and the Caribbean.
