Georgian Terrace Hotel . Complimentary Wireless Internet Service Now Available for Guests |
Atlanta, GA (May 3, 2004)
- The historic Georgian Terrace Hotel recently launched its complimentary
wireless Internet service available for hotel guests, becoming one of the
growing number of hotel hot spots in the United States. From the
conference center and lobby to the Savoy Bar & Grill and the terrace,
hotel guests now have the freedom to access the Internet without being
confined to their work desk or modem port.
The new complimentary wireless system, provided by StayOnline, allows guests with wireless laptops to connect to the Internet in all of the hotels public spaces. For added convenience, guests without proper equipment may rent a laptop connection kit through Guest Services for a nominal fee. The increasingly popular technology known as 802.11b or Wi-Fi (wireless fidelity) provides connectivity up to 200 times faster than a dial-up modem. As a growing number of people are doing business on the road, we are pleased to offer this service to our hotel guests, said Roy Young, Managing Director, The Georgian Terrace Hotel. High-speed Internet access is a large factor in the decision-making process for business travelers, therefore we felt it was essential to provide the most advanced services possible to our guests. Atlanta-based StayOnline is the nation's leading installer of 100% property coverage wireless high-speed Internet access solutions for the hospitality industry. The company recognizes that wireless HSIA installation is the most efficient way to provide the nation's upscale business and leisure travelers with modern conveniences while preserving the integrity of historic properties. "We are delighted to help The Georgian Terrace Hotel honor its guests' needs to communicate in a 21st century arena, but in a way that impacts this grand, historic property as little as possible," said Antonio DiMilia, President and CEO of StayOnline, Inc. "The Georgian Terrace Hotel is one of the nations crown jewels in terms of its longevity and its beauty, and a wireless HSIA solution eliminates the need for cumbersome wiring which would potentially disturb its historic integrity and back-of-house operations." The entire hotel will go wireless in 2005, which will include wireless access in all 319 guest suites. For now, each guest suite features high-speed Internet ports for guests to connect to the Internet via an exclusive T-1 line. Built in 1911 at the corner of Peachtree Street and Ponce de Leon Avenue in Midtown, The Georgian Terrace Hotel is the most distinguished hotel in Atlanta that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The property features 319 guest suites; a stunning rooftop pool; fitness center and one restaurant. The spacious guest suites are elegantly furnished with mahogany vanities and fully equipped kitchens. In the hotels public areas, visitors can explore classically proportioned hallways and parlors accented with vaulted ceilings, marble and wood columns, intricate plaster moldings, crystal chandeliers and spiral staircases.
