Leading Hotel Chains and Online Intermediaries to Debate Revenue Management and Pricing Strategies

June 7, 2004 - On June 16-17 pricing and revenue management executives from all sectors of the travel industry will gather in Las Vegas for EyeforTravel’s second annual Revenue Management and Pricing in Travel conference.

This year’s event sees a particularly strong focus on the hospitality industry. In a series of presentations and roundtable discussion, hospitality revenue management experts from companies such as Hilton, Best Western, Sol Melia and Harrah’s Entertainment will be looking at key drivers behind pricing, yield management, revenue optimization and channel management. Topics to be covered in depth include price transparency, rate parity, profit optimization and multi-channel distribution and pricing strategies. On June 16, Apo Demirtas, Senior Director of Revenue Management at Hilton will outline the fundamentals of pricing in the hotel industry, whilst Ken Gifford, Corporate Director of Revenue Management at Omni Hotels will present the specific challenges for pricing and yield management in group business. They will then be joined by RM executives from Priceline and Best Western on a roundtable discussing the implications for revenue management when adopting a multi-channel, multi-partner distribution strategy.

On the second day of the event, Jimmy Shu, VP Revenue Management and Distribution at the Kimpton Group will address the issues associated with adapting rate parity across all distribution channels, asking whether this is the proper strategy to maximize revenue. Following this, a second hospitality roundtable, including representatives from Sol Melia, Travelocity and Hotwire will debate the successful integration of RM and marketing strategies, and how to get the balance right to ensure optimum profitability.

Said Simon Carkeek, Event Director, “Following the enormous success of our inaugural Revenue Management and Pricing event in Miami last year, we have once again attracted speakers from some of America’s most profitable travel companies to share their expert analyses of current RM best practice. Uniquely, this event sees speakers from across the travel distribution chain. Not only hotels and airlines, but also leading online and offline intermediaries.”

In a special session this year, RM professionals from Las Vegas’s leading casinos, including Harrah’s, The Venetian, Paris and Rio will discuss the particular revenue management challenges experienced in the Casino Resort Sector. The event also features sessions covering airline and tour operator revenue management and pricing strategies, with speakers from Spirit Airlines, Mark Travel and NLG taking to the podium to share their expertise and insight.
