With more than 20 years in the hotel industry, Southard began his career in hotel sales and catering at full-service properties in the Washington D.C. area in the early 1980�s.  For the following 15 years, he served as director of sales & marketing at a wide variety of hotels and resorts in Scottsdale, Ariz.; Richmond, Va.; Atlanta; Chattanooga, Tenn.; and Florida�s Atlantic Coast.

Southard has received several accolades throughout his career, including �Sales and Catering Sales Team of the Year� for his leadership from Hilton Hotels Corporation in 2002.  He received a bachelor�s of science degree from the Rochester Institute of Technology in upstate New York.
