Jean-Luc Maumus Appointed General Manager
of Elk Mountain Resort, Ridgeway, Colorado
RIDGEWAY, Color. (January 7, 2004) - Developers Tom and Michael Forman, owners and proprietors of Elk Mountain Resort, have announced the appointment of luxury hotelier Jean-Luc Maumus, a veteran of Hilton International Hotels, Inter-Continental Hotels & Resorts and Member Small Luxury Hotels, to the position of general manager of Elk Mountain Resort.

Elk Mountain Resort is a new, year-round luxury resort situated on 275 acres of spectacular alpine mountain property between Montrose and Telluride.  Maumus's appointment is the first key management hire for the luxury hospitality property, scheduled to open in late Spring 2004.

Maumus, a native of France, brings to Elk Mountain Resort a 25-year record of achievement in the luxury hospitality industry, including senior management-level positions at renowned properties such as Monmouth Plantation in Mississippi and Maison De Ville in Louisiana, both members of Small Luxury Hotels of the World and Historic Hotels of America.

A graduate of Institut International Hotellerie & Tourisme in Glion, Switzerland, Maumus began his career in 1978 with Hilton International Hotels, serving at Hilton Hotel properties in London and Paris.

From 1980 through 1985, Maumus served in a variety of management positions for Paris Sheraton Hotel in France as well as for several Boston-based properties, including The Fox and Hounds Restaurant, Back Bay Hilton Hotel and Swissotel Lafayette.  While at the Inter-Continental Hotels & Resorts from 1988 through 1992, Maumus served as director of food and beverage for The St. Anthony Intercontinental Hotel in San Antonio, Texas, and as executive assistant manager of food and beverages for The Mark Hopkins Inter-Continental Hotel in San Francisco, California.

Maumus will be responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day operations of Elk Mountain Resort, including the delivery of amenities and services for the property's Luxury Lodge Rooms and Cottages.  During the pre-opening phase of the multifaceted facility, Maumus will develop the service standards for Elk Mountain Resort and assist the development team in creatively marketing and positioning the project's innovative approach to luxury hospitality.

Surrounded by pristine National Forests on three sides and the 14,000-foot-high peaks of the San Juan Mountains, Elk Mountain Resort will be comprised of 21 luxury lodge rooms and 18 three-bedroom, two-story cottages offering an array of floor plans.  Each of the 46 individual buildings that will comprise Elk Mountain Resort will be carefully positioned throughout the heavily wooded property so that guests enjoy spectacular views of the nearby San Juan Mountains, the Resort's spring-fed lake as well as the abundant aspens, firs, elk and deer that populate the property.

An almost limitless range of outdoor recreational opportunities will be offered at Elk Mountain Resort throughout all four seasons of the year, including gourmet picnicking, horseback riding, rock climbing on the custom-designed 30-foot wall, hiking, fly fishing, snowmobiling in the 10-acre snowmobile park, ice skating on the lake, cross-country skiing, mountain biking, ATV riding, tennis and paintball.  A special year-round Kids Camp will keep children of all ages on the go with outdoor activities geared just for them.   In addition, in-room massage and beauty treatments and a full-serve fitness center will be available.
