Maureen O�Hanlon, SVP Sales and Marketing
for Prime Hospitality, Elected Chairman
of the Americas Board for HSMAI

MCLEAN, VA (Feb. 25, 2004) -- Hospitality sales and marketing executive Maureen O�Hanlon, senior vice president, sales and marketing for Prime Hospitality, has been elected Chairman of the Americas Board for the Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI).

In this leadership role, O�Hanlon will guide the organization�s Executive Committee and Board of Directors for a two-year term, January 2004-2006.

�Maureen�s involvement in HSMAI has been long-standing, from her early beginnings in hospitality and as an active participant in the Big Apple Chapter, to her leadership roles with the HSMAI Foundation, Board of Directors, Executive Committee, and now as Chair of the Americas,� states Robert A. Gilbert, CHME, CHA, president and CEO of HSMAI. 

�Her creativity, enthusiasm, strategic vision and great appreciation for the organization�s value all throughout one�s evolving career will have a tremendous impact on HSMAI�s direction and mission to grow into one of the industry�s most powerful brands,� he adds.

In her role as HSMAI chair, O�Hanlon will work to further HSMAI�s awareness and credibility, as well as challenge the board and chapter leadership to create innovative and successful products and programs for its broad membership base of sales and marketing professionals.

O�Hanlon, who is also a past president of the HSMAI Big Apple Chapter, notes: �HSMAI has been a wonderful resource to me throughout my career, and I look forward to furthering the association�s value proposition to our members as chair by directing initiatives that will further enhance the quality and quantity of available educational and informational resources.�

Prior to joining Prime Hospitality in 2003, O�Hanlon spent the majority of her 25 years of travel and lodging experience with Carlson Companies Inc., ultimately serving as executive vice president of sales and marketing.  Most recently, she was with Marketing Arts Organization, a travel consultancy to major companies as well as Internet and e-commerce ventures.

O�Hanlon has been named as one of the most powerful women in America�s travel industry by Travel Agent magazine, one of the 25 most influential industry executives by Tour & Travel News, received the Atlas Award from the Association of Travel Marketing Executives, and has been named to the Winners Circle by Travel Agent magazine. 

O�Hanlon takes over the top spot from Sal Dickinson, CHME, chief executive, Dickinson & Associates, who will remain on the Executive Committee as immediate past chair.
