Association Honors Pasley for Service and
Commitment to the Hospitality Industry

OKLAHOMA CITY and SPRINGFIELD, Mo. � February 3, 2004 � John Q. Hammons Hotels, Inc. (AMEX: JQH) proudly announces that John Pasley, general manager of the Renaissance® Oklahoma City Hotel, recently was named �Outstanding General Manager of the Year� by the Oklahoma Hotel and Lodging Association (OH&LA).   The Renaissance Oklahoma City Hotel is owned by Mr. John Q. Hammons and operated by Springfield, Mo.-based John Q. Hammons Hotels, the nation�s leading independent builder, developer, owner and manager of upscale full-service hotels, resorts and suites.

Pasley was recognized during OH&LA�s annual �Stars of the Industry� awards ceremony held at the Adam�s Mark Hotel in downtown Tulsa, Okla.  He was honored for demonstrating professionalism and leadership, as well as for his active participation in the association, the community and other industry programs.  In addition, Pasley�s name has been submitted for consideration for the American Hotel & Lodging Association�s �Stars of the Industry� awards, which takes place in April 2004 during the Las Vegas International Hotel & Restaurant Show at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino.

Under Pasley�s two-year leadership of the Renaissance Oklahoma City Hotel, the property has twice been named the most profitable Renaissance property in North America during the Marriott/Renaissance Global Meeting.  The hotel also received Marriott�s �107 Award� for maintaining a RevPAR index over 107 percent and achieved guest service scores that consistently ranked the hotel within the top 20 Renaissance properties each quarter.  

Among all John Q. Hammons properties, the Renaissance Oklahoma City Hotel brings in the second highest-ranking profit, and in an October 2003 Marriott quality audit, the property scored the highest within Mr. Hammons� portfolio of Marriott hotels.  Additionally, Pasley developed a safety committee in 2002, which has successfully decreased hotel employee and guest accidents by over 98 percent.  

Pasley also serves as a leader in his church, is a dedicated husband, an active father of two and serves as a leader of the Boy Scouts of America.

The �Stars of the Industry� awards program has honored industry professionals for over 30 years, accepting nominations from all AH&LA member properties and employees.  Divided into categories by hotel size, employees and properties, nominees are eligible for awards recognizing outstanding leadership, community service, guest relations, special events, enviro-management and commitment to the non-profit organization America�s Promise � The Alliance for Youth.  Staff nominations can include letters of recommendation, photos, guest comment cards, news clippings and other materials that demonstrate the nominee�s merit for this honor.
