Thursday, 2nd. October, 2003. The
Spanish hotel chain Sol Meliá has announced the sale of the Sol
Patos Hotel in Benalmádena (Malaga, Spain) for 16.8 million Euros.
The deal will generate capital gains for Sol Meliá of 11.3 million
Euros.
The deal forms part of the hotel company�s asset management strategy
which, amongst other things, includes the sale of certain hotel properties
whenever they are located in destinations in which the company operates
other hotels that satisfy the needs of customers, and whenever the deals
themselves are sufficiently profitable.

The sale of the Sol Patos will enable Sol Meliá to continue to maintain
a prominent leadership position in the region. The company is the leading
hotel chain in Andalusia where it has 34 hotels (17,000 beds), of which
12 are in Malaga and 1, the Sol Aloha Playa, in Benalmádena.
The 3-star Sol Patos provides 277 rooms. 200 meters from the beach and
1 kilometer from the Torrequebrada Golf Course, the hotel also provides
a buffet restaurant, 2 bars, 2 swimming pools, a tennis court, minigolf
and a shooting gallery. From November the hotel will be operated by the
Symbol Hoteles chain.
