Steven Keup Named General Manager
of The Melrose Hotel, Washington, D.C.
.
WASHINGTON, D.C. (October 15, 2003) - Mark S. Lahood, senior vice president of operations for The Melrose Hotel Company, announced today that Steven Keup has been named general manager of The Melrose Hotel, Washington, D.C. Bringing more than 20 years of hotel industry experience, Mr. Keup will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the hotel, The Landmark Restaurant and The Library Bar, as well as over 125 employees.
 
"Steven's experience has taken him up and down the east coast, assisting in the opening of new hotels, renovating and increasing sales for established hotels and winning awards for excellence in meeting planning," continued Lahood.  "We are confident that with his skills and extensive industry experience, Steven will be an excellent addition to the strong team already in place at The Melrose Hotel, Washington, D.C."

Prior to joining The Melrose Hotel, Mr. Keup spent close to five years with Crestline Hotels and Resorts, serving as opening general manager for the Franklin Marriott Cool Springs in Franklin, Tennessee from 1998 to 2001 and as general manager of the Norfolk Waterside Marriott in Norfolk, Virginia from 2001 to 2003. During his time with Crestline Hotels and Resorts, Mr. Keup received numerous awards and recognition, including Successful Meeting's "Pinnacle Award" and Meeting South's "Stars of the South" award.  

Previously, Mr. Keup held various positions in operations for the Interstate Hotels Corporation, including general manager at the Philadelphia Marriott West, director of operations for both the Fort Lauderdale Marriott North and the Boca Raton Marriott Crocker Center, and resident manager of the Castle Hotel and Resort and the Marriott at Sawgrass Resort. 

The Melrose Hotel, Washington, D.C. is located on Pennsylvania Avenue between historic Georgetown and the White House. The 240-room luxury hotel has over 6,000 square feet of meeting space and houses The Library Bar and The Landmark Restaurant.
