Record Highest Occupancy Rates Since the Games , Predictions the Hotels Would Become 'White Elephants' Off the Mark |
"There is a perception that Olympic Park is only about sporting events, but in fact western Sydney is one of Australia's most robust commercial areas and the Olympic Park hotels have established a strong reputation as a major national and international conference centre. "Even during the SARS and Iraq period the Olympic Park hotels were performing strongly, thanks in part to the fact that all the Sydney Olympic Park venues worked closely together to win conference business by designing innovative programmes that made the most of Olympic Park's unique facilities." The combination of state-of-the-art venues at Olympic Park, excellent conference facilities and a dedicated team of event organisers has seen Novotel/Ibis Sydney Olympic Park lead the competition in western Sydney.. Comprising 177 rooms and 19 floors, the ellipse shaped Novotel is the highest building on the Olympic skyline. Located within the same complex is the Hotel Ibis with 150 rooms. With four room types including standard accommodation rooms in both hotels, luxury suites in the Novotel and team accommodation in the Hotel Ibis, there are room styles to satisfy every budget. The Olympic Park hotels delivered a new standard in environmental compliance, complemented by a unique partnership with leading conservation organisation, World Wide Fund For Nature (WWF). The partnership saw the hotels incorporate a wide range of environmentally sustainable principles including installation of Australia's largest commercial solar hot water systems (250sq.m), grey water re-use, comprehensive recycling and waste reduction program, use of carefully selected building materials and a 40% equivalent reduction in energy use compared to similar hotels, with 100% of the hotel's energy and electricity generated from clean, renewable and non-polluting sources. Sydney Olympic Park comprises a range of world-class venues including the Olympic Stadium, SuperDome, Tennis Centre, Aquatic Centre, Showgrounds and State Sports Centre, all of which can be utilised for conferences and exhibitions. The area also comprises a large business park - with a range of international and national companies based there - and a rapidly growing housing estate, serviced by a dedicated train and bus service. Plans for expansion of Sydney Olympic Park's facilities are expected shortly. Accor is the worldwide leader in hotels, tourism and corporate services, employing 150,000 people in 140 countries. |
