Choice Hotels International, Inc. (NYSE: CHH) announced today the appointment
of Mike Jackson in a dual role as president of Choice Hotels Canada and
vice president of international operations for Choice Hotels.
As president of Choice Hotels Canada, Jackson will oversee the growth, services and marketing of Comfort, Quality, Clarion, Sleep, Econo Lodge, Rodeway Inn and MainStay Suites brand hotels throughout Canada. In his operations role, he will provide operational assistance to Choice Hotels� master franchise partners around the world. Prior to joining Choice Hotels, Jackson served as senior vice president of Westmont Hospitality Group where he was responsible for the management of up to 120 limited and full-service hotels (many of which are Choice Hotels products) in Canada. Jackson has also served on the board of Choice Hotels Canada, the Hotel Association of Canada, and the Choice Canada Franchisee Advisory Board. �Mike brings a wealth of experience to the International Division, � said Bruce Haase, Choice Hotels� senior vice president, international division. �We are delighted to have someone with his level of expertise leading one of the largest groups in the Choice Hotels system.� Jackson will be based in Toronto at the offices of Choice Hotels Canada. Prior to Jackson�s appointment, Mark Pearce, vice president of international sales and marketing for Choice Hotels, served as interim president of Choice Hotels Canada. With Jackson�s appointment, Pearce joins the board of directors of Choice Hotels Canada and will lead the newly formed strategic planning committee of the board. Said Haase, �Throughout this transition, Mark has provided valuable leadership to Choice Hotels Canada and developed a strategic plan that will increase service levels and reduce costs to our Canadian franchisees.� Choice Hotels Canada is the largest hotel chain in the country with over 270 properties open and under development, representing eight brands from coast to coast, including Comfort, Comfort Suites, Quality, Sleep, Clarion, Mainstay Suites, Econo Lodge and Rodeway. The Canadian-based operation includes a French reservations center. Choice Hotels Canada became Canada's largest hotel chain in July 1993, when a 50/50 partnership was forged between Journey's End Corporation (which became UniHost Corporation and is now InnVest Management Holdings Ltd.) and Choice Hotels International. Choice Hotels International is one of the world�s largest lodging franchisors, marketing more than 5,000 hotels open or under development in 46 countries under the Comfort Inn, Comfort Suites, Quality, Clarion, Sleep Inn, MainStay Suites, Econo Lodge, and Rodeway Inn brand names.
