Philippe Guitton Appointed General Manager at the
Radisson Plaza Resort Tahiti, Opening Spring 2004
PAPEETE, TAHITI November 10, 2003 As the Radisson Plaza Resort Tahiti nears completion for a spring 2004 opening, newly-appointed general manager Philippe Guitton has been a catalyst in fast-tracking the opening of the resort.

Guitton is actively overseeing the senior management team of the new hotel in an aggressive hiring campaign designed to attract quality service-oriented staff.  In addition, Guitton is solidifying relationships with allied tourism, government and private sector partners, including tour operators, airlines, cruise lines and tourism officials; and overseeing the final stages of the construction of the hotel, which will be the only five-star resort on Tahitis eastern shore.

The Radisson Plaza Resort Tahiti, the first upscale hotel to open in Tahiti since 1997, is the only hotel adjacent to Lafayette Beach, a black sand beach spanning 2,600 feet.  The 165-room resort consists of 86 ocean-view rooms, 53 suites and 26 duplex suites.  All rooms overlook the water with scenic views and large balconies.  The resort will have an all-day dining restaurant, a pool bar, a terrace bar, large conference and function facilities, a state-of-the-art spa and health club and will also offer an array of water sports.

Guitton has over 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry.  He most recently worked as general manager of the Hotel Sheraton Moorea in French Polynesia, the leading hotel on Moorea.  In addition to holding top hotel management positions in hotels, Guitton has a 15-year background in food and beverage.

Having worked in French Polynesia for a number of years, Guitton is familiar with the destination and surroundings. French Polynesia is enjoying positive growth, and I am excited about managing a new upscale hotel in the area and playing an important role for both French Polynesia and the Carlson hotel group, he said.

The opening of the Radisson Plaza Resort Tahiti is important for Carlson Hotels Asia Pacific and its growth plans for the Asia Pacific region. The resort is the first for the group in French Polynesia and will bring the number of Radisson hotels in the Asia Pacific region to 29 across eight countries.

Singapore-based Carlson Hotels Asia Pacific is the regional headquarters for Carlson Hotels Worldwide in the Asia-Pacific region and is supported by reservations, sales and development offices in Tokyo, Hong Kong and Sydney.  Carlson Hotels Worldwide, based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, includes five hotel brands: Regent International Hotels, Radisson Hotels & Resorts, Park Plaza Hotels, Country Inns & Suites By Carlson, and Park Inn Hotels.
