The 23rd Annual IH/M&RS Gold Key Awards Recognizes
Seven Winners for Excellence in Hospitality Design
- Tony Chi and Associates Wins �Best of Show�Award -

NEW YORK, NY, November 10, 2003... Seven grand prize winners were announced, and one �Best of Show� Award was presented, at the 23rd annual IH/M&RS Gold Key Awards for Excellence in Hospitality Design this morning at New York City�s Waldorf=Astoria.

The �Best of Show� Award was presented to Tony Chi and Associates (New York, NY) for its submission in the Restaurants � Seating To 110 category, for Bruno Jamais Restaurant Club in Toronto, Canada. The �Best of Show� Award was chosen from among the seven grand prize winners as having the most creative design of all submitted properties.

� Duncan & Miller Designs (Dallas, TX) for Hotel ZAZA (Dallas, TX)

Suites
� Anderson/Miller Ltd. (Chicago, IL) for Hyatt Regency Chicago (Chicago, IL)

Lobby/Reception Area
� Wilson & Associates (Dallas, TX) for Ritz-Carlton Bachelor Gulch (Bachelor Gulch, CO)

Spa/Resort
� Wilson & Associates (Dallas, TX) for The Villas and Spa at Little Dix Bay (Virgin Gorda, British Virgin Islands)

Senior Living Facility
� Barry Design Associates (Los Angeles, CA) for Sun City Kashiwa (Kashiwa, Japan)

Judges for the 2003 IH/M&RS Gold Key Awards were Chester Deptula, Surrey Hotel; Tony Fortuna, Lenox Room; Tag Galyean, TAG Studios; Jordan Mozer, Jordan Mozer & Associates, Ltd.; and Andi Pepper, Andi Pepper Interior Designs. Judges considered design creativity, aesthetic value and commercial viability when making their selections.

As an additional feature of the Awards Breakfast, Jeffrey Beers, founder and principal of Jeffrey Beers International (JBI) delivered a keynote address, based on the topic �Risk Equals Guts, Talent and Timing� Beers enlightened the audience with insights on the design industry and the challenges faced in the current economic climate.

A portion of the proceeds from the Awards Breakfast will be donated to the Network of Executive Women in Hospitality (NEWH). The NEWH brings together professionals from all facets of the hospitality industry by providing opportunities for education, professional development and networking. A non-profit organization founded in Los Angeles in 1984, NEWH has chapters nationwide, as well as a growing international membership.

The 88th annual IH/M&RS is being held November 8-11, 2003 at New York City�s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.
